The Buffalo Bills are coming off one of their biggest wins of the season over the defending AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs. They have established themselves as one of the best teams in the AFC and maybe the team to beat. Quarterback Josh Allen leads the Bills’ offense, but he also has plenty of help from running back James Cook.
Cook has been explosive in the run game this season, making life tough on opposing defenses. Unfortunately, it looks like Cook could miss the upcoming week due to foot and ankle injuries.
James Cook Questionable for Week 10
Cook has been one of the most effective running backs in football this season. He is second in the NFL in rushing yards with 867 and leads the NFL in yards per game at 108.4. Cook has taken a lot of pressure off Allen, allowing the Bills to flourish.
According to Adam Schefter, Cook suffered foot and ankle injuries in the past game and missed practice on Wednesday. It is never good when a player misses practice, but it remains to be seen if Cook will miss the game on Sunday. Cook has been the most impactful running back in football this season, according to PFSN’s RB Impact Score. Cook is rated at 95.4, which is the best in football.

If Cook is unable to play, the Bills would look to Ray Davis to take over the starting running back role. Davis has not seen much work this season, having only 22 attempts for 46 yards. He saw much more action last season during his rookie year and was more successful, running the ball 113 times for 442 yards and three touchdowns.
After Davis, the Bills have Ty Johnson, who has been the most productive RB2. He has rushed 17 times for 72 yards. The Bills will likely turn to a committee approach if Cook is unable to play, featuring both Davis and Johnson.
Bills Vying for AFC Supremacy
With a 6-2 record, the Bills are neck and neck with the 7-2 New England Patriots for the top spot in the AFC East. Two other teams with more wins than the Bills are the Indianapolis Colts and the Denver Broncos. The top of the conference has several strong teams, and the Bills have their work cut out for them to get the best seeding possible.
The Patriots’ improvements give the Bills a worthy divisional opponent for the first time in a while. Most eyes will be on Week 14 when the Bills and Patriots meet in New England. That game could very well determine the division lead, and the Bills are hoping to be playing their best at that time.
