NFL Insider Announces $60 Million Extension That Removes Star WR From 2026 Free-Agent Pool

Ahead of the highly anticipated NFL free agency, one Super Bowl contender has already signed its star player to a lucrative contract extension.

The Jacksonville Jaguars secured one of the most important pieces of their offensive turnaround by extending Jakobi Meyers to a three-year, $60 million contract with $40 million guaranteed. The move locks in a player who has reshaped the structure and efficiency of the offense since arriving at the trade deadline.

Jaguars Lock In Jakobi Meyers With Multi-Year Extension

Jacksonville’s offensive production draws a clear line of separation before and after the move at the trade deadline, in which the Jaguars acquired Meyers for a 4th-round and 6th-round pick.

Prior to the move, the Jaguars averaged 22 points per game. Since his arrival, that figure has climbed to 31.8 points per contest. An increase of more than 50 percent does not happen by chance. It reflects a unit that found stability, timing, and trust within Liam Coen’s system.

Meyers has been central to that shift. His reliability over the middle of the field and ability to convert in high-leverage situations have given Trevor Lawrence a consistent answer against coverage.

The quarterback’s comfort level has grown week by week, and the offense has followed suit with cleaner execution and sustained drives. Overall, Lawrence has played at an elite level since the acquisition of Meyers.

How Meyers Impacts Games Beyond the Box Score

The production supports the tape. Since joining Jacksonville, Meyers ranks 15th in receiving yards with 355 and sits inside the top 10 in receiving touchdowns with three, despite seeing fewer targets than nearly every player above him on those lists. His efficiency has elevated the offense without requiring heavy volume.

That impact is also reflected in league-wide evaluations. According to PFSN’s WR Impact Rankings, Meyers is the Jaguars’ highest-graded receiver this season with a 76.8 mark, reinforcing his value beyond traditional counting stats.

Financially, the deal makes a great deal of sense for Jacksonville. Meyers now ranks as the 24th highest-paid wide receiver annually. That’s just above former Jaguars Christian Kirk, who’s 25th, and plenty below another former Jaguar in Calvin Ridley, who’s getting paid $23 million per year.

Meyers has been far more productive than both Kirk and Ridley. For a receiver who has stabilized the passing game and accelerated Lawrence’s development, the contract lands firmly in value territory.

The extension solidifies the Jaguars’ offensive core moving forward. With Meyers locked in alongside Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, and Travis Hunter, Jacksonville has assembled a balanced and versatile receiving group built for sustained success rather than short-term spikes.

This was not a luxury signing or a reactionary extension. It was a calculated decision to preserve what has worked. Jacksonville’s offensive surge since the deadline has been tangible, repeatable, and rooted in a structured approach. By committing to Meyers, the Jaguars ensured that the foundation remains intact as they push toward long-term contention.
