Is Stefon Diggs Injured? A Look at the Patriots Star’s Injury Status After Slow Start vs. Texans

After a solid season in New England, Patriots veteran WR Stefon Diggs has gotten off to a slow start against the Texans in the Divisional Round.

Over the course of his 11-year career, Stefon Diggs has been quite the weapon for a few franchises. After a one-year stay with the Houston Texans in 2024, the wide receiver signed with the New England Patriots during the 2025 offseason, giving head coach Mike Vrabel and quarterback Drake Maye a reliable set of hands to improve the offense.

They were rewarded with a great bounce-back year from Diggs after only playing in eight matchups for the Texans. However, after starting all season for the Patriots, Diggs has gotten off to a slow start against the Texans during the Divisional Round of the 2026 NFL playoffs.

What Happened to New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs?

No, Diggs is not hurt. In fact, he’s played in all the Patriots’ games this season and is fresh off a win over the Los Angeles Chargers in Wild Card Weekend. However, just like today, he struggled to find much room, getting held to just 16 yards on two receptions against Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers.

As for his outing against the team he played for last season, Diggs has been targeted by Maye three times, catching two for 19 yards. This is surprising as Diggs led the team in targets (102), receptions (85), and receiving yards (1,013). Diggs was also one of the league’s best wideouts in the NFL this season, coming in at fourth overall in PFSN’s WR Impact Metric with an impact score of 87.

Between his season and the impressive play from Maye this season, the Patriots were the second-highest ranked offense in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric. They’ve struggled today, but they’re facing one of the best defenses in the league, according to PFSN’s Defense Impact Metric, which ranks the Texans second overall with an impact score of 89.4.

If they are able to advance to the AFC Championship game, they will take on PFSN’s top overall unit in the Denver Broncos, so figuring out how to gain some positive momentum against another suffocating defense would help them out for next week.

While the defense has fueled the Patriots so far against the Texans, Diggs’ veteran presence and postseason experience will be invaluable to a young New England roster. He was seen on the field pre-game, firing up his squad as they prepped for what will be their last home playoff game after the Broncos beat the Buffalo Bills on Saturday.

While Diggs will keep the team grounded through the ups and downs of postseason football, the offense will have to find a way to score some points, as relying solely on the defense is not enough to sustain a Super Bowl run.

#UPDATE: Diggs scored a touchdown late in the second quarter.
