With the NFL now entering Week 17 and closing in on the end of the 2025 regular season, teams are focused on maintaining player health and availability. Even so, several players are expected to spend time on the sidelines. It’s especially notable since the NFL’s Week 17 schedule also kicks off on Christmas Day.
Tracking injuries to key players is essential for NFL fans and fantasy managers alike. Knowing who may be out or limited in upcoming games can shape expectations. Here’s a breakdown of notable injuries and what to know heading into the week.
QB Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens
Update 12/26: On Friday, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero said that it’s likely that Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson will not play this week. Jackson is dealing with what has been termed a serious back contusion suffered last week against the New England Patriots. Jackson has not practiced this week. He’s listed as doubtful at this point.
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told reporters it is “undetermined” whether quarterback Lamar Jackson will be able to play Saturday night in Green Bay, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
Update 12/23: Morgan Adsit, sports reporter for Fox Baltimore, wrote on X, “‘Its been hard on him,’ Ravens OC Todd Monken on Lamar Jackson’s current back injury and all the injuries he’s dealt with this entire season.”
On Monday, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson reportedly has a severe contusion on his back and is currently listed as day-to-day, ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley reported.

DE Maxx Crosby, Las Vegas Raiders
Update 12/27: Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has been placed on injured reserve for the rest of this season. Crosby is expected to need knee surgery.
Update 12/26: On Friday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby was told he would not be playing on Sunday against the New York Giants due to a knee injury. Rapoport added, “LV made the decision with Crosby’s best interest in mind, though the Pro Bowler has been fighting to play and wants to play.” Crosby has had his knee injury since October.
WR Davante Adams, Los Angeles Rams
Update 12/27: On Saturday, Rams wide receiver Davante Adams was listed as doubtful for Monday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
RB Bhayshul Tuten, Jacksonville Jaguars
Update 12/27: On Saturday, Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten was ruled out due to a finger injury.
QB Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Update 12/26: On Friday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that Bills quarterback Josh Allen has gotten better each day this week, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. McDermott added that Allen, who is dealing with a foot injury, is trending in the right direction and will be ready to play on Sunday.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that quarterback Josh Allen was not practicing as he’s dealing with a foot injury. McDermott added that Tuesday’s practice was a walk-thru and he would see how Allen is feeling on Wednesday.

McDermott, when asked if Allen would be available this week, said, “Yes, as far as I’m aware of.” He added that Allen is “just sore.” Allen got some X-rays on Sunday during halftime of Buffalo’s game.
WR Rome Odunze, Chicago Bears
Update 12/26: On Friday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze has been ruled out for Sunday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Also, earlier on Friday, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that Odunze did not practice on Thursday after aggravating his foot injury in pre-game warmups two weeks ago. Pelissero reported that Odunze is dealing with a stress fracture right now. Pelissero said that it’s trending, at this time, for Odunze to be out in Week 17.
WR A.J. Brown, Philadelphia Eagles
Update 12/26: On Friday, Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown was taken off the Eagles’ injury report, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown did not practice after having his wisdom teeth pulled, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
WRs Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, QB Gardner Minshew, Kansas City Chiefs
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was placed on season-ending injured reserve, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Joining rice on the IR list are wide receiver Tyquan Thornton and cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.
On Monday, the Chiefs placed quarterback Gardner Minshew, who suffered a knee injury on Sunday, on season-ending injured reserve and signed quarterback Shane Buechele off of the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported. Minshew did not tear his ACL after he had tests on it.
Last week, Chiefs starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes was lost for the year after tearing his ACL and MCL. According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Mahomes had an impact score of 77.0 and was graded a C+. He finished his season with 3,587 passing yards, 22 touchdown passes, and 11 interceptions.
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is dealing with a knee injury, was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, Lions running back Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is dealing with a knee injury, was limited in practice on the team’s injury report.
On Monday, Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was listed as a non-participant on the team’s injury report due to a knee issue, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero. The Lions will play the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas.
According to the PFSN NFL WR Impact metrics, St. Brown has an impact score of 89.4 and grades out to a B+.
TE Brock Bowers, Las Vegas Raiders
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported that Raiders tight end Brock Bowers was being placed on season-ending injured reserve by the team. Bowers has dealt with a knee all season long. The Raiders also put safety Jeremy Chinn on IR, too.
QB Josh Johnson, Washington Commanders
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said that quarterback Josh Johnson will start on Christmas Day against the Dallas Cowboys, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
WR Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers
Update 12/27: On Saturday, Chargers wide receiver Kimani Vidal has been ruled out for Saturday/
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, Chargers wide receiver Kimani Vidal was still dealing with a neck injury, according to Chargers reporter Daniel Popper for The Athletic.
On Monday, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that Chargers wide receiver Kimani Vidal was diagnosed with a neck strain. Vidal is considered day-to-day at this time.

A source told Rapoport that Vidal’s diagnosis came after he went through an MRI. Vidal might miss some time. The belief, though, according to Rapoport, is that the injury is not serious.
QB J.J. McCarthy, RB Jordan Mason and TE TJ Hockenson, Minnesota Vikings
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Vikings running back Jordan Mason and tight end TJ Hockenson were ruled out of the Christmas Day game against the Detroit Lions, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. The Vikings posted their final injury report ahead of Thursday’s game.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said quarterback J.J. McCarthy has a hairline fracture in his right hand and is out this week, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. McCarthy went through an MRI and other X-rays on that right hand. McCarthy has missed games this season with three different injuries. That’s on top of missing all last season due to knee surgery.
Max Brosmer will get the start this week. Also, Vikings running back Jordan Mason, who is dealing with an ankle injury, is considered a longshot to play this week, according to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler.
TE George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers
Update 12/26: On Friday, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that 49ers tight end George Kittle did not practice on Thursday. Kittle is still recovering from an ankle sprain. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan did say that there’s a chance Kittle plays this week.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler posted on X that 49ers tight end George Kittle is dealing with a “mid-to-low ankle sprain,” per source. Kittle said after Monday night’s game against the Indianapolis Colts that he believed he avoided a high ankle and that is the case.
LB T.J. Watt, Pittsburgh Steelers
Update 12/26: On Friday, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero said that Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt practiced on Thursday. But Pelissero added that it’s not clear if the Steelers will want to give Watt another week to recover.
Update 12/24: On Wednesday, Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt practiced with the team for the first time since suffering a partially collapsed lung, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
QB Justin Fields and TE Mason Taylor, New York Jets
Update 12/26: On Friday, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that tight end will not play on Sunday against the New England Patriots, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Other Jets players who will miss that game include defensive tackle Jay Tufele and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted on X that quarterback Justin Fields has now been placed on season-ending Injured Reserve.
RB TreVeyon Henderson and WRs Kayshon Boutte and Mack Hollins, New England Patriots
Update 12/26: On Friday, Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson remains in concussion protocol and remains questionable for Sunday’s game. Also on Friday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, ruled out defensive lineman Milton Williams (ankle), wide receiver Kayshon Boutte (concussion), guard Jared Wilson (concussion), linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle), defensive lineman Khyiris Tonga (foot), wide receiver Mack Hollins (abdomen), and linebacker Harold Landry (knee) ruled all those players out. Besides Henderson, wide receiver DeMario Douglas (hamstring) is questionable to play.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was in concussion protocol, according to Patriots reporter Mark Daniels for MassLive.
On Sunday, Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was sent out of the game early after suffering a head injury against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night. There was no update on Henderson’s condition on Monday.

CB Sauce Gardner, Indianapolis Colts
Update 12/26: On Friday, Colts head coach Shane Steichen said that cornerback Sauce Gardner, who is dealing with a left calf injury, and left tackle Bernhard Raimann, who is dealing with a right elbow injury, should be good to go against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is out for the season and is headed to neck surgery, according to NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo.
QBs Jordan Love and Malik Willis and RB Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers
Update 12/26: On Friday, the Packers ruled quarterback Jordan Love as out for this week’s game. NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported that quarterbacks Love and Malik Willis are still being watched closely. Pelissero said that Love has practiced the past couple of days, but he has not cleared concussion protocol. That’s why Love is being listed as questionable at this point. Willis is trending toward being available for the Packers at QB, Pelissero said, so he would get the start with Love now ruled out. As for Jacobs, he’s been taken off the injury report but is still dealing with knee and ankle injuries. But he is expected to play Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens.

WR Pat Bryant, Denver Broncos
On Sunday night, Broncos wide receiver Pat Bryant was discharged from a hospital after being diagnosed with a concussion, but was cleared of other significant injuries, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reported.
Bryant was carted off the field on Sunday after taking a big hit late in the Broncos’ loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
RB Quinshon Judkins, QB Deshaun Watson, TE David Njoku, Cleveland Browns
Update 12/26:Â On Friday, the Browns ruled out tight end David Njoku for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a knee injury, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Update 12/23: On Tuesday, Browns running back Quinshon Judkins underwent surgery to repair a fractured fibula and ankle dislocation. Judkins has now been placed on Injured Reserve. Also, on Tuesday, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski announced that quarterback Deshaun Watson would not be activated this season. Watson will not play this season at all now, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
