Where Are the Two Teams Standing Heading Into MNF?

The Houston Texans suffered three close losses in a row to kick off their 2025 NFL season, raising doubts about whether they would remain at the top of the AFC South this year. After two convincing wins in a row, though, those playoff hopes are back and still going strong.

Houston has outscored its opponents 70-10 over their last two playing weeks. C.J. Stroud threw for four touchdowns in the Week 5 win over Baltimore, and the Texans’ defense intercepted Cooper Rush three times. It was an absolute pummeling that should give them some added momentum in future weeks.

Coming off a much-needed bye, Houston’s defense still ranks third in PFSN’s Defensive Impact metric, and with the offense finding its rhythm again, it won’t be easy for the Seahawks to beat them at home.

Seattle, meanwhile, has charted a similarly resilient course. After dropping their opener, they rattled off three straight victories, stumbled against the Buccaneers in Week 5, and then rebounded with a commanding 20–12 win over the Jaguars to move to 4–2.

A big part of Seattle’s hot start to the year has been the play of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has 42 catches for 696 yards and three touchdowns in just six games. He’s catching those balls from Darnold, who’s been elite as well and ranked seventh in PFSN’s QB Impact metric.

The Seahawks’ offense sits sixth in the league overall, setting up a fascinating primetime battle against one of the NFL’s top defenses and an early measuring stick for Seattle’s playoff potential.
