You may not expect to see a halftime performance during a regular Monday Night Football game, but that’s precisely what you’re getting in Week 11 when the Las Vegas Raiders play host to the Dallas Cowboys.
As part of the gameday experience at Allegiant Stadium, the Raiders always have a halftime performer at home games. Notable artists such as Ice Cube, Lil Jon, and Carlos Santana have headlined in the past, and there will be another big star for Week 11.
What Is the Halftime Show at Raiders-Cowboys?
The Raiders announced that Nelly will take the stage at halftime on Monday night. Nelly is a 51-year-old superstar rapper who has released hits like “Hot in Herre,” “Dilemma,” and “Ride Wit Me,” and is one of the best-selling rappers of all time.
Nelly began his career back in 1993 and burst into the mainstream with his 2000 debut album “Country Grammar.” The album is certified Diamond by the RIAA and has sold over 10 million units in the U.S. alone.
Nelly is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his breakthrough album this year and just completed his World Tour with Live Nation, “Where the Party At.” The rapper currently has a residency at Zouk in Las Vegas, which explains the connection to the Raiders.
This won’t be Nelly’s first halftime show. The three-time Grammy winner also performed as a special guest at Super Bowl 35 in 2001Â and Super Bowl 38 in 2004.
As the team’s official announcement mentioned, Nelly is known for his “larger-than-life” personality, and with the party atmosphere in Vegas, fans should expect a lively show.
In addition to Nelly’s halftime performance, fans will also see husband-and-wife duo The War and Treaty perform the National Anthem. The War and Treaty was founded in 2014 and has been nominated three years in a row for both Duo of the Year at the CMA Awards and Vocal Duo of the Year at the ACM Awards.
