The 2025 season hasn’t gone according to plan for the New York Giants, a team that aimed to be competitive this year. After losing multiple key players on offense and firing their head coach, the focus for the year has shifted to developing its youngsters. But at one point in time, there was legitimate hope that this team could be a sleeper in the NFC.
However, injuries took away any shot of that possibility, with Malik Nabers and Cam Skattebo among the first two to fall. After Skattebo, though, the running back room took another hit in Week 13 with the injury to Tyrone Tracy Jr. Now, who will step up with their top-two options out?
Available Running Backs for the Giants
One of the most gruesome injuries of the season occurred when Skattebo shattered his ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8, forcing him to be helped off the field. The injury was a significant blow to New York, as he ranked 21st on PFSN’s RB Impact at the time of the blow.
Since then, sophomore Tracy assumed the lead-back responsibilities, with some legitimate success at the spot. Ranking at 46 on RBi, he had 398 rushing yards and a touchdown on the season, with 221 yards in his last three outings.
However, an injury to his left leg saw him carted off the field and into the locker room in Week 13 against the New England Patriots, leaving the team wafer-thin at the running back spot.
As things currently stand, the following two names on the list for the Giants are Devin Singletary and Eric Gray. However, if the need arises, then the team can go further in the depth chart to bring in Dante Miller from the practice squad.
Devin Singletary
A third-round pick from 2019, Singletary has provided solid production at every pitstop in his career. However, his two years in New York have seen some of the worst production of his career from the veteran running back.

After finishing with just 437 rushing yards (career low) and four touchdowns last year, he hasn’t seen a major jump this year, with 238 yards and two touchdowns to his name, with just 74 carries to his credit.
Eric Gray
A fifth-round pick in 2023, Gray has been used primarily as a kick returner for the Giants, with 27 carries for 653 return yards. A non-factor in the ground game, he has just 31 carries in his career for 79 rushing yards with two fumbles to his detriment.
Dante Miller
A 5-foot-9 pitbull from North Carolina, Miller has served on the practice squad for the majority of his career. After coming in as an undrafted free agent in 2023, he was signed to New York’s practice squad in 2024.
While he was elevated to the active roster, he did not get much burn on the field. Instead, he was waived and signed back to the practice roster at the start of the 2025 campaign and has served there exclusively.
