The Best RBs To Start in Fantasy Football

    David Montgomery, Detroit Lions

Fantasy managers seemingly wanted very little to do with Montgomery in drafts this year, but his opportunity in Week 1 is going to be instantly evidenced as everyone focuses on the Thursday Night Football matchup.

One of the best things fantasy managers can do is target players for their starting lineup in high-scoring affairs, and this game certainly profiles as one with an over/under of 54.5 at the time of writing. The scoring opportunities for both teams are going to be there, and we should see a large workload for Montgomery in this game.

At his size, the former Chicago Bear RB figures to be the goal-line option, and this Lions team was in the red zone with regularity in 2022. If you drafted Montgomery as an RB3 on your roster, I’d be looking for a way to get him into your starting lineup.

    AJ Dillon, Green Bay Packers

Dillon was absolutely slept on in fantasy football drafts this year, but he has the potential to make a splash right out of the gate in Week 1 going up against the Chicago Bears defense.

Yes, Chicago made some key additions on defense this offseason with players like Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, while also adding in plenty of young talent on the defensive line, but this is still a unit that needs more talent.

In 2022, the Bears allowed on average 1.8 rushing touchdowns per game! Dillon should see a solid and safe workload in this matchup, but the likelihood that he finds the end zone makes him an incredibly intriguing FLEX option for lineups in Week 1.
