The Best TEs To Start in Week 1

Tyler Higbee, TE, Los Angeles Rams

The Seattle Seahawks have developed a reputation in fantasy football circles as being one that you should target when setting your lineups. Last season, the Seahawks were absolutely atrocious at slowing down the position, and they allowed a whopping 14.8 fantasy points per game to opposing TEs.

Looking ahead to Week 1, Higbee draws a matchup against this Seahawks defense, which already puts him on the streaming radar. On top of that though, Cooper Kupp is highly unlikely to play due to his hamstring injury. If that is the case, the veteran TE may legitimately see 10+ targets from Matthew Stafford this week.

Juwan Johnson, TE, New Orleans Saints

If you decided to roll the dice on TE this year and go after one later on, Johnson may still be available for you to pick up off of your waiver wire. The talented TE has shown a solid connection with new QB Derek Carr in training camp and the preseason and he stands alone now in this TE room in New Orleans.

At the position, you’re looking for either a safe target floor or touchdown upside, but Johnson may actually present both here in this Saints offense. It’s not a guarantee, as we simply have no idea who exactly Carr is going to lock onto and feature in his new home, but Johnson has enough upside this week to make him a solid streaming option that may end up turning into more.
