Drake Maye provides an update on his health and his shoulder with Super Bowl 60 nearing.

New England Patriots fans began Super Bowl 60 week with serious concerns about Drake Maye’s condition following physical issues he had been dealing with in recent days, including a shoulder injury.
After initial concerns arose shortly after the AFC Championship, Maye had his participation limited in Wednesday and Thursday’s practices because of shoulder discomfort. Drake Maye Expresses Optimism About Shoulder Injury

During Super Bowl Opening Night in Santa Clara (via ProFootballTalk), Maye said he will be “ready for the Super Bowl,” noting that he used the two-week break between games to rest. Both the young quarterback and head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed the shoulder injury but downplayed the severity of the situation.

A precise medical diagnosis has not yet been released. Two days after the victory against the Denver Broncos, Maye said he was “feeling good” and commented that the wear and tear of “30 consecutive weeks of throwing” had taken a physical toll. However, the quarterback’s statement Monday was much more encouraging regarding the possibility of the New England QB starting the game without any problems.

“I feel good. I’ll be just fine. I threw a good bit. I threw as much as I would at a normal practice. I felt great and looking forward to getting back out there Wednesday and Thursday for practice and Friday to get ready for a normal week of prep,” Maye said.

Additional details about the condition of his shoulder are likely to be released just before Super Bowl 60 kicks off. However, the New England franchise and the QB are adopting a calm tone at this time.

Patriots Put Their Trust in Maye for Super Bowl 60

Maye, who ranks No. 2 in PFSN’s QB Impact Metrics with an A- grade, will make his Super Bowl debut Sunday after a stellar regular season, completing 354 of 492 passes with 31 touchdowns and only 8 interceptions.

In addition, he rushed for 450 yards and scored 4 rushing touchdowns, making him New England’s best hope for its first title since the Tom Brady era

The QB’s performance was instrumental in the Patriots finishing the regular season with a 14-3 record, leaving fans confident even with the second overall seed in the AFC and no bye in the wild-card round.

Therefore, it will be important to monitor Maye’s progress in upcoming practices this week, allowing the Patriots to be less concerned about the possibility of losing their starting quarterback in the matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
