Darius Slayton Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Giants WR, and Will He Play in Week 12?

After missing time with a hamstring setback, what is the latest update on Giants receiver Darius Slayton’s health and his Week 12 availability?

The New York Giants enter Week 12 searching for stability, momentum, and perhaps most urgently, healthy playmakers. At 2-9, injuries have gutted the offense, and the absence of wide receiver Darius Slayton has only magnified the unit’s inconsistency.

Slayton has been one of the Giants’ most dependable deep threats. He was sidelined after re-aggravating a nagging hamstring injury in the Week 10 matchup against the Chicago Bears.

How Does Darius Slayton’s Hamstring Concern Cloud Giants’ Week 12 Plans?

As New York heads into Ford Field with a 0-6 record away from home, Slayton’s status looms large. The team also released its unofficial depth chart on November 18, listing Slayton in his usual spot. However, like all such releases, it remains fluid and is used more as a media guide than a concrete indicator of game-day participation.

While the Giants prepare for their third straight NFC North opponent before a much-needed bye week, Slayton’s status looms large, not just for the game plan, but for a receiving corps that has struggled to maintain any rhythm without him.

Slayton missed all practices leading up to last week’s loss against the Green Bay Packers and was ultimately ruled out after not making significant progress. This hamstring issue, which first kept him out in Weeks 6 and 7, has become a recurring challenge and could hinder him again in Week 12. There’s some doubt within the team about his readiness, especially with the bye week just around the corner.

When he’s healthy, Slayton has been quietly one of the Giants’ most effective offensive players. In eight games, he’s racked up 23 catches on 34 targets for 343 yards, averaging an impressive 14.9 yards per reception.

His downfield presence has been essential for a team ranked 26th in PFSN’s Offensive Impact Score (70.0), and Slayton himself sits 33rd among wideouts with a 76.5 WR Impact Score in PFSN WR Impact Rating. Without him, New York has struggled to generate explosive plays, relying heavily on short-area targets and inconsistent replacements.

Slayton’s absence has also forced more responsibility onto rookies like Jalin Hyatt and Theo Johnson, along with midseason contributors like Isaiah Hodgins. Hyatt flashed against Chicago and San Francisco earlier this season, but the Giants have lacked a consistent WR1 presence, something Slayton usually provides even when not at full strength.

On a personal note, Slayton made headlines this week by announcing his engagement to Olympic heptathlon champion Anna Hall. His teammates, including Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart, took to social media to share their congratulations, and Hall’s post quickly gained attention in both the track and NFL communities.

The Giants might take a cautious approach, possibly keeping Slayton out for another week to ensure he’s fully ready to go after the bye. With upcoming games against the Patriots, Vikings, Raiders, Cowboys, and a rematch with Washington, New York may be leaning towards prioritizing his long-term health over immediate needs.

For now, the Giants will monitor Slayton through the weekend. Whether he suits up in Detroit could influence how competitive Big Blue looks on Sunday.
