Jerry’s World: Dallas Cowboys Lead the NFL in Team Valuation for 18-Straight Year

As the 2024 NFL season begins, the Dallas Cowboys once again reign supreme in value across the league.

If you asked Dallas Cowboys fans what they cared about, the franchise’s value probably wouldn’t be near the top of the list. However, owner Jerry Jones may sing a different tune as his Cowboys once again sit atop the NFL throne in the latest team valuation across the league.

Cowboys NFL’s Most Valuable Franchise Once Again

With the NFL regular season set to kick off in mere hours, CNBC releases the official NFL team valuations for 2024, where the Cowboys once again sit atop the throne like they have become so accustomed to doing so in Jones’ tenure.

According to CNBC, “Today, the average NFL team is worth $6.49 billion, representing major returns for league owners. Among the factors driving up values this year are big-money media deals, sponsorship revenue, and non-NFL events at team stadiums, including Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour.

“Along with this year’s list, we look at how the Dallas Cowboys went from losing $1 million a month to becoming the NFL’s most valuable franchise at $11 billion.”

As CNBC states, the Cowboys are officially valued at $11 billion, comfortably in first place ahead of the No. 2 franchise, the Los Angeles Rams, which are valued at a healthy $8 billion.

Dallas holds the top spot for the 18th time in a row, a true feat in any business sector, never mind one as volatile as the sports world.

The top five are rounded out by the New England Patriots, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders, with values of $7.9 billion, $7.85 billion, and $7.8 billion, respectively.

For comparison purposes, the franchises on the opposite end of the spectrum include the Cincinnati Bengals, which are No. 32 with a valuation of $5.25 billion, followed by the Arizona Cardinals and Buffalo Bills, which are valued at $5.3 billion and $5.35 billion, respectively.

Despite Super Bowl Drought, Cowboys Still Reign Supreme in Popularity

While Cowboys fans are yearning for a Super Bowl appearance as they’re in the midst of an almost 30-year drought, it’s still clear as ever that the team’s popularity isn’t waning.

Dallas is still trying to sort out a championship-caliber combination on the field, but off of it? There’s no one better.

From Jones’s knowledge of how to rile up the masses with his statements in the media to the way he has maximized his exposure to become America’s Team and beyond, it’s clear that Dallas is the head of the class, both financially and marketing-wise.

It’s fascinating to see how a franchise can continue to rise financially and in popularity despite having no hardware to show for it for almost three decades. There are some franchises that need to win to get attention, but Dallas has found a way to even make its losses spectacular and attention-worthy.

There appears to be more apathy from Cowboys fans this year following another embarrassing playoff exit that came far too soon. Yet, as the numbers show, people still care and still spend their money.

Still, Cowboys fans hope to have something other than their franchise’s worth to brag about — and they hope it happens soon.
