Patriots WR DeMario Douglas Goes Viral After Heartwarming $100,000 Surprise for His Mother

The New England Patriots selected wide receiver DeMario Douglas in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has impressed with his performance ever since. In both 2023 and 2024, Douglas has improved his performance, cementing himself as a key player in the Patriots’ work-in-progress offense.

His improvement in performance earned him a lucrative rookie contract with the franchise. As a heartfelt gesture of gratitude for completing his season on a rather positive note, Douglas surprised his mother with a very expensive gift, approximately $100,000 worth.

DeMario Douglas Gifts His Mother a Shiny New Range Rover

On Sunday, Douglas took the internet by storm as his mother’s reaction to receiving her dream car, the Range Rover, went viral. Douglas’s mother, Angie Mack, shared the clip on Instagram, where she appeared extremely happy and emotional.

Mack went straight to hug the car and even took it for a ride. “My son surprised me with a fully paid Range Rover. And while the gift itself is incredible, what brought me to tears wasn’t the car… it was his heart… I love you, son. Thank you for being you. Thank you for seeing me. And thank You, God, for choosing me to be his mother,” Mack wrote on her Instagram.

What makes the moment even more heartwarming is that Mack raised Douglas as a single mother. Watching his son succeed in the NFL and buying him her dream car is nothing less than a major milestone in her life.

Looking at the video, the car appears to be a 2025 Land Rover Range Rover Sport P400 Dynamic SE, which costs about $100,000. It is safe to say that Douglas’s gift is a result of all the hard work he has put in as a rookie to become an NFL-ready wide receiver.

DeMario Douglas’s Contract with the Patriots

In 2024, the Patriots offense was ranked at No. 26 among the 32 NFL teams in PFSN’s Offense+ metric, mainly because their stats were a hot mess-28th in EPA per play and 30th in points per drive. However, they have silently been developing their rookies to be an anchor to their long-term success.

Douglas is one of them, as the wide receiver has completed  1,182 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns with 115 receptions in his two years with the franchise.

His skills led him to sign a lucrative four-year, $3,973,332 rookie contract with the franchise. As a part of this contract, Douglas received $915,000 as his base salary for 2024 and $33,333 as a prorated signing bonus each year. His base salary for 2025 is $1,030,000, with his prorated signing bonus.

Mack would hardly be surprised if there was another gift waiting for her next year.
