After turning in an incredible season in his second year in the league, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was the runner-up for the 2025 NFL MVP at the NFL Honors. However, he’s struggled a bit in the first half of Super Bowl 60 as the Patriots have been held scoreless.
Former NFL WR Antonio Brown Calls Out Patriots QB Drake Maye
Through the first two quarters of Super Bowl 60, Maye has completed six of 11 pass attempts for 48 yards while also being sacked three times for 30 yards. He’s also rushed one time for 11 yards. While the defenses have prevailed, many were quick to come after the signal callers in the matchup.
One former player was quick to call Maye out, as former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown compared him to Steelers’ 2022 first-round draft pick Kenny Pickett. He posted on X, “Drake Maye when it turns February…”

In the regular season, Maye played in all 17 games for New England this season, completing 354 of 492 pass attempts for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and eight interceptions, a considerable improvement from his rookie season, where he completed 225 of 338 pass attempts for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns, and ten interceptions.
Throughout the 2025 season, the Patriots ranked second in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric, with a score of 86.6. Maye was also the second-ranked quarterback in PFSN’s QB Impact metric, coming behind Brock Purdy with a score of 91.1. While they had some nice performances in the regular season, Maye has struggled over the past few games in the postseason as the defensive competition has gotten much better.
It has not been easy going for the Patriots in Super Bowl 60. As a team, the offense has gained just 51 yards and four first downs. While the Patriots’ defense has kept the Seahawks out of the end zone, Seattle kicker Jason Myers has converted all three of his field goal attempts as Seattle took a 9-0 lead in the first half. This was the fifth Super Bowl without a touchdown in the first half.
However, the Patriots do receive the kickoff in the second half. Hopefully, head coach Mike Vrabel was able to fire up his squad to answer the Seahawks’ three field goal drives. While a touchdown wouldn’t let them take the lead, it would cut the lead to just two points with a converted extra point. A much-needed pick-me-up after being shut out in the first half of Super Bowl 60.
