Bill Belichick’s return to college football was supposed to be a triumphant new chapter for a coaching legend. Instead, his debut with the North Carolina Tar Heels ended in a humbling 48–14 beatdown by TCU on Monday night. And the embarrassment didn’t stop when the clock hit zero.
From on-field taunts aimed at his personal life to relentless trolling from the Horned Frogs’ official social media, the night became a national punchline, leaving everyone asking one question.
How Did a Brutal Loss Turn Into Personal Trolling?
While TCU dominated on the field, safety Bud Clark made sure the victory felt personal. His moment came in the first half after he returned an interception for a touchdown, his 12th career pick-six.
But his most viral play happened after the game. In a live-streamed locker room celebration, Clark directly mocked the eight-time Super Bowl champion and his 24-year-old girlfriend, Jordon Hudson.
“Belichick gotta call for his girlfriend… he’s sad,” Clark shouted as his teammates laughed, a clip that immediately went viral across social media.

Meanwhile, Hudson was in Kenan Memorial Stadium watching the disaster unfold. She was spotted in a VIP suite with NFL legend Randy Moss and UNC icons Michael Jordan and Lawrence Taylor.
The cameras showed her early in the game after North Carolina scored on its opening drive, but as the Tar Heels collapsed, the broadcast never returned to the suite. The lopsided loss marked a nightmare start to Belichick’s college coaching career.
The taunting didn’t stop in the locker room. TCU Football’s official account joined in, replying to a Deadspin meme that read, “Babe, wake up, Belichick coaches college football today.” The Horned Frogs’ account cheekily posted, “Babe, go back to sleep.”

They also poked fun at UNC’s new Hulu documentary series. After Carolina Football posted, “Excited to showcase our program this fall on @hulu,” TCU replied, “When does episode one come out?”
From the field to the social media timeline, TCU ensured Belichick‘s debut was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
What Does This Rough Start Mean for UNC?
TCU entered the season on much more stable ground than North Carolina. Coming off a nine-win campaign, the Horned Frogs had some roster turnover via the transfer portal, but it was nothing compared to the complete overhaul the Tar Heels underwent.
Given the circumstances, losing to a quality team like TCU in Week 1 is understandable, but that doesn’t make the blowout any less frustrating.

Fortunately for UNC, the schedule provides an immediate opportunity to regroup. The Tar Heels have upcoming matchups against Charlotte and Richmond, allowing them to correct mistakes and build momentum before diving back into tougher Power Four competition.
There is still a belief that this team can find its footing, but everything hinges on how quickly the new group develops. The key will be to shake off the TCU loss, handle business against the 49ers on Saturday, and start moving in the right direction.
