During a press conference on Monday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian gave his clearest answer to speculation about quarterback Arch Manning’s injuries. He also confirmed that running back Quintrevion Wisner will be out for the game against UTEP this weekend.
Steve Sarkisian Fires Back at Arch Manning Injury Claims While Confirming Quintrevion Wisner Concerns
During his weekly press conference on Monday, Steve Sarkisian was bombarded with questions, mainly centered around the well-being of his players. He spoke briefly about the continuous rumors about Arch Manning’s throwing technique and informed the audience about the condition of running back Quintrevion Wisner.
The stories about Manning’s injury were in the limelight on the weekend because some videos were shared on social media showing the quarterback was looking uncomfortable during the match against San Jose State.
“According to who? Arch said that to you?” Sarkisian asked when questioned about the injury rumors. When reporters suggested Manning appeared to be uncomfortable, Sarkisian firmly stated, “He doesn’t have any.”
Steve Sarkisian was asked why Arch Manning seemed to grimace while throwing against San Jose State and said, “According to who?”
When asked a follow-up question about it, Sarkisian said, “I’ve never filmed you guys going to the bathroom and don’t know what that looks like.”

The Texas coach then provided his now-viral bathroom comparison that has been circulating across social media platforms. “I’ve never filmed any of you guys when you’re using the bathroom, so I don’t know what kind of faces you make when you’re doing that,” Sarkisian said, drawing laughter from the assembled media.
Manning himself had previously addressed the speculation after Saturday’s game, firmly denying any physical issues. “No, no,” Manning said when asked directly about injury concerns. “I got to make that throw. He was open. Ran a good dig route. So got to make that throw”.
The quarterback’s facial expressions during games have become a talking point among fans and analysts, with some referring to them as the “Manning twitch” – a nod to similar mannerisms displayed by his uncles, Eli and Peyton Manning, throughout their NFL careers.

Meanwhile, Sarkisian provided less optimistic news regarding Quintrevion Wisner’s availability for Saturday’s home game against UTEP. According to CFB Insider, “Sarkisian says as of today, RB Tre Wisner would be considered ‘doubtful’ for this weekend’s game vs. UTEP.”

Wisner rushed for 80 yards on 16 carries in the season opener against Ohio State but was held out of the San Jose State victory due to a leg injury. His continued absence has opened opportunities for backup running backs CJ Baxter, Jerrick Gibson, and Christian Clark.
Against San Jose State, Manning completed 19 of 30 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 23 yards. The Longhorns (1-1) will be on their home field this Saturday, aiming to move forward with their positive run before starting SEC conference play.
