Speculation about Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin’s future in charge of the program has threatened to overwhelm the impressive season put together by the No. 6 Rebels (10-1 overall). Over the past few weeks, Kiffin has commandeered the headlines after being linked with several top college football programs.
On Monday, reports emerged revealing that Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter had issued an ultimatum to Kiffin to clarify his future before the Rebels face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the Egg Bowl on November 28.
Analyst Reveals Deal Between Lane Kiffin and Florida
During Tuesday’s segment of CBS Sports’ “College Football Show,’ analyst Aaron Taylor revealed that Kiffin already had a deal in place with the Gators, accounting for the frustration from the Ole Miss administrators.
“I think he’s gonna be in Gainesville,” Taylor said. “I’ve heard some things, that he’s already talked to the team and that’s why everybody is so frustrated, because it’s a done deal. It just hasn’t been announced.”

During an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Kiffin denied the reported ultimatum by Ole Miss and instead urged Rebels fans to enjoy the good form of the team. According to PFSN’s College Football Playoff Meter, the Rebels have a 99.76% chance of clinching a College Football Playoff berth.
During Tuesday’s segment of “A Peek Inside Florida Gators Football,” former Gators coach Urban Meyer weighed in on whether Kiffin would succeed in Gainesville, where former coach Billy Napier failed to meet expectations.
“I admire the guy. I admire someone that says, ‘This wasn’t right or I need to get better here, here, here.’ And I think he has. He’s still got that personality to him, but I’m actually proud of the guy that he got his stuff in order,” Meyer said. “I don’t think he’s ever been a bad coach, he’s been a great coach. So I do think Lane would be a great choice.

“Florida is one of those top-five jobs, maybe top-three jobs in America that you can swing for it all every year. Now, it’s rugged. There’s a lot of ruggedness to us, but some people are saying it’s much more comfortable at Ole Miss. I don’t know if a guy like Lane likes comfort. You want to go take swings as hard as you can, I think.”
A report by On3’s Pete Nakos revealed that Kiffin’s family had already visited Gainesville and Baton Rouge as the race for the Ole Miss coach’s signature heats up between the Gators and LSU Tigers, respectively.

If he’s going to fla. Then why is his son now enrolled in a baton rouge school?
