Kiffin has never shied away from candid conversations, and his recent appearance alongside Kirk Herbstreit offered another example. The topic shifted from football to family when Kiffin was asked about his daughter Landry’s relationship with the LSU linebacker.
The revelation’s timing, just before the Rebels’ rivalry matchup against LSU, added layers of intrigue to an already heated contest.
Kiffin admitted that parenting challenges come with unexpected twists.

“So now we’re back to going to like the parenting thing, you know okay well if my kid can leave all the time you know and go somewhere else man, that discipline maybe not working very well,” he said.
He added that accountability matters for young people.
“They know they got to be in the house so they don’t do it, you know they’re losing their phone or whatever it is. That system’s really not going a good direction for them. And then all of a sudden they’re done playing and they thought everything was right. They went all these places and then now they go in the real world and get a job and oh wait, I don’t get to do whatever I want or talk to my boss that way.”
When the discussion circled back to Landry and Weeks, Kiffin reflected on how it felt watching the game unfold.
“The TV copy was playing yesterday around here on a TV and when I walked out then I saw it and I saw the Whit stuff and the throw up and all that and I was just like, you know, this is really like a movie or something like this is made for TV,” Kiffin said.
He noted the spectacle of seeing Landry’s romance referenced on-air while Weeks battled through a tough game.
“When the announcers were talking about it and Landry’s romance with Whit Weeks and they show his family in the stands and then he’s throwing up and then we 50 plays in the first half to try to tire him out, you know, and he gets hurt and he comes back and I’m like I feel like I’m like watching a movie here.”
Asked if he spoke with Weeks afterward, Kiffin admitted the moment had passed.
“Yeah, I did go to try to find him, but he was already up the tunnel and I don’t know what it’s like when you’re on the losing side. You don’t really want you know hey, man. Great job. Good job. Good try. Thanks a lot for that tempo and all those crack blocks.”
While Kiffin made it clear he accepted the relationship, he also showed the vulnerability of a father processing an unusual situation.
