Baker Mayfield has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sitting atop the NFC South at 6-4, as the team looks to win the division for the fifth consecutive season. While the quarterback is having another solid year on the field, his personal life is about to get even busier following an announcement he shared on Tuesday.
How Did Emily and Baker Mayfield Share Their Big News?
Mayfield took to Instagram to share a series of pictures from a pregnancy reveal photoshoot. The images feature Mayfield, his wife Emily, their daughter, and their dog as the couple cuts into a cake filled with blue frosting.
“New addition coming April 2026, and we couldn’t feel luckier,” Mayfield captioned the post. This will be the couple’s second child, as their first, a daughter, was born in April of 2024.
Mayfield and his wife, Emily, have been married since mid-2019, after being introduced by a mutual friend in 2017. Emily is also a public figure with a large following of her own. She is the co-founder of the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation, has over 200,000 followers on Instagram, and was featured alongside Baker in commercials for Progressive Insurance when he played in Cleveland.
The timing for the anticipated birth of their second child works out well, as it is expected to happen during the NFL offseason.
How Has Mayfield Revived His Career in Tampa Bay?
Mayfield originally entered the NFL as a first-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, carrying a ton of hype after winning the Heisman Trophy in college.
His rookie season was exactly what the Browns had hoped for, as he threw for 3,725 yards with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. However, the quarterback struggled through a rough sophomore season, which was marked by an increase in interceptions.
After injuries and inconsistency led to a tumultuous end with the Browns, Mayfield joined the Carolina Panthers in 2022. That situation did not go much better, and he was released before the end of the season.
The quarterback was then claimed by the Los Angeles Rams and played the final five games of the 2022 season for the team. Mayfield’s performance in Los Angeles successfully rejuvenated his career, leading to his signing by the Buccaneers in free agency the following offseason.
Since landing in Tampa, Mayfield has thrown for 10,909 yards with 86 touchdowns. His play has earned him two consecutive Pro Bowl selections, and for his performance in 2025, PFSN’s QB Impact ranking gives him a 73.5 grade.
