When Will Rome Odunze Return? Latest Update on Bears WR After Surprise Week 14 Injury Update

The Bears have a key game against the Green Bay Packers in 2025, but they will unfortunately be without one of their top weapons, Rome Odunze.

The Chicago Bears have been one of the most surprising teams in the NFL in 2025. The team, led by first-year head coach Ben Johnson, is currently 9-3 and in first place in the tough NFC North.

The team has a pivotal matchup this weekend against the Green Bay Packers, who are in second place in the division. Unfortunately, one of the Bears’ key players, Rome Odunze, is dealing with an injury heading into the matchup.

Rome Odunze Injury Update

Odunze did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday due to a foot injury. After again not practicing on Friday, Odunze was officially ruled out for Sunday’s contest.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Odunze has been playing with a stress fracture in his foot. The injury that will keep him out in Week 14 is not expected to be a long-term issue, and the wideout will likely be considered “week-to-week” going forward.

This will be the first game Odunze has missed in his career. The Washington product played in all 17 games during his rookie season and has started all 12 games for the team so far in 2025.

Without Odunze, the team will likely rely on veteran D.J. Moore and rookie Luther Burden III to fill the void.

The only other players listed as out on the Bears’ Friday report are cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and rookie linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II.

Odunze Has Been What the Bears Hoped For in 2025

Odunze has 44 catches for 661 yards and six touchdowns in 2025 and leads the team in each category. PFSN’s WR Impact ranking gives Odunze a solid 76.3 grade for his performance in 2025 so far.

The wideout already has double the number of touchdowns he had last season and is well on his way to surpassing his reception and yardage totals from a year ago as well.

The Bears’ offense as a whole has shown significant improvement compared to last season. In PFSN’s Offense Impact rankings, the Bears have the No. 12 unit in the league with a 78.3 grade. In 2024, the team had the No. 30 unit and a grade of 66.1.

Odunze has played a key role in that improvement, but the development of quarterback Caleb Williams has also been impressive. As a rookie, Williams threw for 3,541 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. With still six games to play in 2025, Williams has 2,722 yards, 17 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

PFSN’s QB Impact ranking gives Williams a 75.5 grade in 2025, an improvement from a 69.4 grade as a rookie. The Bears and Packers will kick off from Lambeau Field on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.

Chicago Bears’ Insights for Week 14

Team: The Bears won in Green Bay in Week 18 last season to snap an eight-game losing streak at Lambeau Field.

QB: Caleb Williams had season lows for completion percentage (47.2%) and pass yards (154) in Week 13. Williams had a 76.4 (C) QBi in the game, suitable for 12th best for the week.

Offense: Chicago has a +6-point differential on the season. In the first quarter, the Bears had a +30-point differential, which is the only quarter they have had a positive point differential.

Defense: The Bears’ +17 turnover margin through 12 games is tied for the eighth-best in the NFL since 2000.

Fantasy: Since the Bears’ Week 5 bye, Rome Odunze has scored more than 8.3 fantasy points just twice. Not to be outdone by his teammate by too much, DJ Moore has only done it three times.
