Steelers Analyst Blasts Owner Art Rooney II for ‘Doing a Horrible Job’

Chris Mueller called Art Rooney II the "biggest problem" with the Steelers as Pittsburgh sits 4-3 despite adding Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf.

It’s Halloween at the gates of the Frankenstein castle, and the village has its pitchforks sharpened, looking at owner Art Rooney II. Or at least the monster he created, the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers.

Once again, Pittsburgh is without a franchise quarterback and on the fast track to a potential first-round exit, suspending fans in a state of football purgatory.

Pittsburgh Steelers Fans Are Getting Impatient

Steelers fans have been unable to bask in the warmth of a playoff win since the 2016 season. That’s bound to make things icy when it comes to ownership, even in Steel City.

On 93.7 the Fan, Chris Mueller (@chrisMuellerPGH), a long-time fan and team critic, did not hold back in his criticism of the Steelers owner, calling him the “biggest problem with the franchise right now.” That’s a free hot take to help light those torches, Steelers fans.

Pittsburgh’s 2025 season represents one of the most high-profile resets in recent franchise memory, driven by bold veteran acquisitions and a fervent push to return to playoff prominence.

After back-to-back 10-7 campaigns, the Steelers entered the season riding a wave of seasonal change. Most notably, future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers was brought in to jumpstart an offense that has struggled with consistency in recent years. Rodgers’ arrival, paired with the blockbuster addition of wide receiver/Avenger-to-be DK Metcalf, immediately raised the expectations for a bag full of postseason candy.

Yet, Pittsburgh is 4-3, tracking for the same result that has defined head coach Mike Tomlin’s tenure. The risk of another one-and-done playoff berth is impossible to ignore.

Defensively, Pittsburgh boasts elite top-end talent headlined by perennial All-Pro T.J. Watt, widely recognized as the best player on the roster. The front seven, reinforced with established veterans and young depth, has pressured opponents and generated turnovers at a high rate. The new-look secondary, featuring standouts like Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay Jr., is supposed to be much improved in man coverage and aggressive blitz packages.

However, the unit ranks 23rd in PFSN’s Defense Impact metric, signaling that there is work to be done despite the offseason improvements.

Are the Steelers a Trick or a Treat?

With PFSN’s Football Playoff Meter (FPM) giving the Steelers a 67.6% chance to make it to the postseason, all signs point to Pittsburgh taking a real shot at nabbing a high-end talent before the deadline.

According to PFSN, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers fits the bill. He would complement Metcalf and give Rodgers another trustworthy target underneath.

The beauty of Halloween is that everyone takes off their masks in November. The Pittsburgh faithful are about to see how legitimate this team really is.
