Are the Raiders Trading Jakobi Meyers? NFL Insider Reveals Las Vegas’ Stance Before Deadline

The Raiders are on course to finish at the bottom of the AFC West, but Jakobi Meyers's trade situation could impact how their season ends.

Jakobi Meyers and the Las Vegas Raiders’ new era under legendary coach Pete Carroll doesn’t look to be everything that the team’s fans had hoped for. They’re sitting at 2-5, and things aren’t clicking, especially on offense.

With the franchise’s situation very clear as we approach the Nov. 4 trade deadline, Meyers has come up in trade talks. However, is the team keen on parting ways with him?

The Raiders Are Reportedly Unlikely To Trade Jakobi Meyers

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport posted a clip on X on Monday from his appearance on “NFL GameDay,” during which he discussed Meyers’s trade status.

“And then there’s Jakobi Meyers, who we know the team reportedly wouldn’t make it happen (trade him),” Rapoport said. “He has been out there, sort of an up and down season for Jakobi Meyers, but certainly is talented; someone teams have been calling the Raiders about. [The Raiders] did sign a receiver over the last couple of days, with Tyler Lockett. We’ll see if that allows them to part ways with Jakobi Meyers.”

Meyers has arguably had a slightly better season than the Raiders as a whole. He’s been a reliable target despite not being targeted in the red zone and has yet to record a touchdown. So far this season, he has 29 receptions for 329 yards, averaging 11.3 yards per catch.

Vegas is stumbling in its effort to keep up in one of the most competitive divisions in pro football. The AFC West is loaded with the Denver Broncos, LA Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs, all of whom have winning records. The Raiders have a deep hole to crawl out of just to avoid finishing at the bottom of the division, with the 5-3 Chiefs a distance ahead of them in third.

Vegas’s newest acquisition, Lockett, brings a boatload of experience to the receiving corps. With a decade of NFL experience, the veteran will be a reliable, though not spectacular, option for quarterback Geno Smith.

Smith and Lockett spent at least six years in Coach Carroll’s system up in Seattle, adding a chemistry factor to the wideout’s acquisition.

While Lockett played a solid complementary role on the Seahawks’ offense to start his career under Carroll, he particularly became a notable, 1,000-yard receiver during the waning hours of Russell Wilson’s time in the Rainy City.

After a season and a half with the failing Tennessee Titans, Carroll’s former deep threat made his way to Sin City to aid a struggling Raiders team.
