College football is still trying to adjust to the NIL reality, and since Lane Kiffin took over the reins at LSU, many reports have surfaced about their NIL war chest. Now, David Pollack just dropped a figure that has the entire SEC reeling.
David Pollack Makes Bold NIL Claim About Lane Kiffin and LSU
Speaking on his “See Ball Get Ball” platform, Pollack discussed former LSU head coach Brian Kelly’s latest comments about Kiffin winning the national championship. In the same discussion, Pollack suggested that LSU was spending $60 million.
“He (Lane Kiffin) literally spent more money than anybody this offseason. Maybe not Texas Tech. By the way, whatever your numbers are, here’s what I can tell you because I’m doing an NIL documentary right now and meeting with all these folks. You can say whatever you want about whatever the number roster is,” Pollack said.
“Go to 60 and then we can have a conversation. And you heard me right. 60,000,000,000 like and Lane Kiffin and them are way up there spending a sh*t ton of money.”
Pollack’s claim of a $60 million NIL war chest for a single roster is a staggering jump from the $15–$20 million figures that were considered elite just 18 months ago. While outlets like On3 and 247Sports track individual player valuations, such as LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt’s reported $4 million valuation, Pollack argues the aggregate total for a championship-caliber roster in 2026 has ballooned past the point of recognition.
In the same conversation, Pollack reflected on Kiffin’s approach to roster building. He mentioned how Kiffin refused to wait on the traditional developmental curve.
Pollack noted, “I think he’s in a really good place because they’ve made an investment in NIL and going forward with Lane Kiffin. He’s not going to take time to develop the 18-year-old kid. So, if they’re in really good shape with the 18-year-old kids that are there, if he’s not going to develop them and he’s going to get his own, does that really help him that much?”
Under Kiffin, the strategy has been plug-and-play. By aggressively targeting proven starters in the portal, LSU added a staggering 40 new players via the portal for the 2026 season. Kiffin is betting that veteran talent, purchased at market value, is a safer bet than high school potential.
As the 2026 kickoff nears, the pressure on Kiffin is immense. Anything short of a College Football Playoff (CFP) appearance will be viewed as a failure. Currently, the Tigers have a 39.2% chance to make the CFP, a 9.3% chance to win the SEC, and a 3% chance to win the national championship, per PFSN’s CFB Playoff Meter.
