Ahead of Super Bowl 60, the New Orleans Saints have not made any coaching staff changes. Finishing 6-11, there were several bright spots across the staff. There’s no guarantee anyone will be fired, but several strong coaching options are available, and the Saints should make staff upgrades.
Three Coaches the Saints Could Add to Their Staff
Carmen Bricillo, Offensive Line Coach
Among potential offensive line coaches, an area the Saints should consider upgrading, New York Giants OL Coach Carmen Bricillo would be an excellent option. Following the Giants’ firing of HC Brian Daboll earlier in the season, Bricillo may not be retained when a new coach is hired. If that is the case, the Saints must pounce.
The Giants’ offensive line has been a weakness for years, but this season, it was very different.
Looking at the PFSN Offensive Line Impact Metric, the Giants’ final offensive line rankings were 26th in 2024, 30th in 2023, 23rd in 2022, 25th in 2021, and 27th in 2020. In the 2025 season, their final rank was 15th.
Additionally, if Bricillo joins the staff, G Greg Van Roten may be willing to follow in free agency, addressing a significant need for the Saints.
Kevin Patullo, Offensive Pass Game Coordinator
Yesterday, the Philadelphia Eagles fired OC Kevin Patullo following a disappointing offensive season. There is no doubt this was the correct move by the Eagles, but it created an excellent opportunity for the Saints.
Last season, while HC Kellen Moore was the Eagles’ OC, Patullo served on his staff as the Passing Game Coordinator/Associate Head Coach. There is a clear link here, and Patullo could address one of the Saints’ weaknesses.
The potential role Patullo would fit on the Saints staff is one they currently do not have. Other coaches on the staff, including Moore, likely serve as the team’s offensive pass game coordinator without the title, but Patullo could be labeled as such. His strength lies in red-zone efficiency.
This season, with Patullo as OC, the Eagles were first in the NFL with a 70.5 red zone touchdown percentage, according to the PFSN Offensive Impact Metrics. To put that in perspective, second place was nearly 4% lower: the Cincinnati Bengals at 66.7%.
Looking at the Saints’ red zone touchdown percentage, they were last (44.4%).
Chris Banjo, Special Teams Coordinator
The last coach is definitely a long shot, but it may be one of the most significant moves the Saints could make all offseason.
The New York Jets had a poor season, but their special teams were elite, and the coach leading this success was Special Teams Coordinator Chris Banjo.
After playing for the Saints, Banjo became a coach for the Denver Broncos in 2023. After the Jets hired HC Aaron Glenn, Banjo followed his former coach to New York. Again, this will be a long shot given Banjo’s connection to Glenn, but if the Saints can somehow pull it off and upgrade their special teams, wins will follow.
