The Philadelphia Eagles fans got their wish fulfilled. The Eagles’ offense wasn’t up to their standard in the regular season, and the playoffs were no different. Following their loss to the 49ers in the Wild Card round, the team made a significant change to their staff in an effort to revitalize their offense heading into next season.
Eagles Fire Their Offensive Coordinator
Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is out as the offensive coordinator in Philadelphia. After their loss, many people called for his job, and the Eagles listened. Although Patullo won’t be the offensive coordinator in 2026, he can still remain part of the staff.
The Eagles’ offense wasn’t good enough this season, ranking 16th in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric. HC Nick Sirianni released a statement about his decision to change coordinators and took some of the responsibility for the team’s shortcomings in 2025.

“Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders,” said Sirianni.

Philadelphia has had trouble retaining its offensive coordinators, whether due to poor performance or performance that is good enough to warrant those coordinators getting a head coaching job elsewhere.
Philadelphia is on to its fifth offensive coordinator in as many years. The revolving door will continue regardless of whether the Eagles play well or poorly. Teams will always be looking to poach talented offensive coordinators from elite teams, and these top teams cannot afford to employ ineffective coordinators during their championship windows.
There is no shortage of talent on the offense in Philadelphia. They have elite offensive linemen, a Super Bowl MVP in Jalen Hurts, an Offensive Player of the Year in Saquon Barkley, and two elite receivers in A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. Even with these players, the offense looked out of sorts, and the situation often felt tense.
Brown outwardly expressed his frustrations with his lack of involvement on the offense. Barkley was nowhere near the same player that he was last season. Whoever Philadelphia decides to be its next offensive coordinator needs to get the most out of these stars. Patullo couldn’t do that, and ultimately it cost him his job. It simply can’t happen again, or major changes will have to be made, which might include Sirianni losing his job.
