College Football’s Top 10 Offenses in Week 9: Washington, Tennessee, and Miami Lead the Charge

Washington's 97.1 offensive grade led Week 9's historic college football performances, with Demond Williams Jr. accounting for four touchdowns.

Offensive fireworks keep people coming, and Week 9 had its fair share of them. PFSN’s Offensive Impact rankings peaked in week 9, with an average score of 77.9. This ranks second among all weeks since 2019, behind only Week 16 of that season.

Here are the top 10 offenses that contributed the most to a historic week of scoring.

10) Navy Midshipmen

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 86.9 (B)

The Navy Midshipmen are a couple of hiccups away from being ranked and undefeated when they match up with Notre Dame. According to TruMedia, Navy’s 37.3 points per game ranks 16th this season and fourth among the Group of Five. They also rank fourth-slowest in seconds per play, forcing defenses to wait for their eventual death.

9) Southern Miss Golden Eagles

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 87.9 (B+)

This Southern Miss football team came in with big expectations and followed through for its fans. Charles Huff led Marshall to a 10-3 record, averaging 31.8 points per game (37th) in 2024, and the Golden Eagles saw a ton of transfers follow him in 2025.

This has proven to be a huge helping hand for Southern Miss, who posted just their fourth 80+ grade since 2019, and the highest one in our database.

8) Indiana Hoosiers

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 88.3 (B+)

The Indiana Hoosiers just keep chugging along, ranking in the top 10 for our offensive and defensive rankings in Week 9. Fernando Mendoza has jumped to 2nd in our QBi impact rankings, barely trailing Ty Simpson with an 88.3 score in 2025. Mendoza also continues to be the media darling, earning himself consideration for the top prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft.

In my mock, I had Mendoza as the third quarterback taken off the board at No. 4 to the Miami Dolphins. Regardless, the Hoosiers’ offense continues to roll with a 92.4 season score, ranking third in the nation.

7) Cincinnati Bearcats

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 88.8 (B+)

The Cincinnati Bearcats continue to impress offensively. In what was expected to be a competitive game, the Bearcats finished with a second-straight top 10 Impact score after beating Baylor 41-20. Cincinnati scored on four of its five first-half drives en route to a 24-0 lead before the Bears decided to show up.

6) Texas A&M Aggies

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 88.9 (B+)

It would be fun to imagine what a Texas A&M home playoff game would look like, but it won’t happen. They are just too good to play in the first round of the playoffs.

Since 2019, the Aggies have had the highest offensive impact score against an LSU defense. Although Kansas State (2021) and Alabama (2023) were close, Marcel Reed and his slew of weapons were dominant. (They even got a coach fired!)

5) Kennesaw State Owls

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 89.6 (B+)

One of my favorite things about writing these articles is that I don’t always have to highlight the superstars and the big guys. The Kennesaw State Owls were 2-10 last year and ranked in the bottom 10 for points per game. Fast-forward to now: They rank 86th in points per game and are 5-2 on the season. This is also their second-straight week of a top-15 or better finish offensively.

4) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 90.6 (A-)

While I have been on record as saying the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are immensely overrated, their offense is still exciting to watch. Watching quarterback Haynes King put his body on the line weekly is inspiring and energizing.

King was lights out against Syracuse, throwing 25-of-31 for 304 yards, three touchdowns, and zero turnovers. He also ran the rock for 91 yards and two more scores. It’s not very often you see a player account for all of his team’s touchdowns in a 41-point showing.

3) Miami (FL) Hurricanes

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 91.1 (A-)

Miami got the bounce-back they needed after Carson Beck’s rough four-interception performance against Louisville in Week 8. It took the guys a little while to get going, scoring just seven points in the first half. In the second half, they finally found the gas pedal and dropped 35 unanswered in an easy win over Stanford.

2) Tennessee Volunteers

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 91.5 (A-)

Many people wonder what this Tennessee football team would look like with Nico Iamaleava. I’d argue it wouldn’t be much better, considering Joey Aguilar ranks 23rd this season in QBi and just put up a 91.7 grade against the Kentucky Wildcats in Week 9.

The Volunteers finished north of 500 yards on offense without a turnover. With this recipe, teams have a 93.8% win percentage.

1) Washington Huskies

Week 9 PFSN College Offi Grade: 97.1 (A+)

The best team in Week 9 was the Washington Huskies against Illinois. The only time a team has ever received a score higher than Washington’s 97.1 this week was in Week 7 of 2022, when UCF beat Temple 70-13 and got a 98.6 impact score. In fact, only Georgia’s 63-3 win over Florida State joins Washington’s performance as a member of the top 10 while playing a Power Four opponent.

It’s hard to find any holes in the game played by Demond Williams Jr.: 26-of-33 for 280 yards, four touchdowns, zero turnovers, and zero sacks. He also averaged 6.6 yards per carry on 10 rushes. Superstar wide receiver Denzel Boston showed out, too, racking up 10 catches for 153 yards, 88 of which came after the catch.
