Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has been listed on the Friday injury report ahead of Sunday’s Week 3 game at the New York Giants.
This latest update comes after Worthy did not see the field in Week 2 after dislocating his shoulder in the Chiefs’ season-opening 27-21 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Worthy ran into Kansas City star Travis Kelce on a crossing route and promptly left the game.
Will Xavier Worthy Play vs. the Giants?
Worthy participated in practice only on Wednesday and Thursday and was listed as questionable on the latest report. On Saturday, NFL insider Dianna Russini revealed that the Chiefs’ WR is not expected to play in Week 3.
Worthy was the No. 28 overall pick by the Chiefs in the 2024 NHL Draft following his time as a Texas Longhorn. He currently ranks fourth all-time in career receiving yards for Texas with 2,755.

Head coach Andy Reid said they are looking at Worthy’s status on a day-to-day basis.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Reid said, according to the Kansas City Star. “I know questions will be about Xavier and so on. I’ve just got to see. I mean, he practiced today and did a good job. Jalen Royals practiced today. Both of them ran around pretty good. We’ll just see how it goes.”
The receiver has quickly become one of quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ most dependable targets, posting 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns last season, then achieving a record-setting Super Bowl showing with 157 yards and two scores in the eventual loss to Philadelphia.
“More than anything, having him out there is a threat in general,” Mahomes said to the media prior to Wednesday’s practice. “At any moment, he can take a pass, short or long, and take it to the house. Having him on the practice field was very encouraging last week. Seeing him out there, he wanted to stay out there. It was kind of like holding him back.”

Between 2024 and 2025, Worthy has posted 638 yards and six touchdowns off 59 receptions. The 5’11”, 165-pound wideout has also rushed 104 yards across 21 carries.
The Chiefs also miss Rashee Rice, who remains suspended until Week 7. Fellow wide receiver Jalen Royals and Worthy are also listed as questionable.
Kick-off is slated for 8:20 p.m. EST at MetLife Stadium on Sunday between the Chiefs and the Giants. Both teams are looking for their first win of the year, with New York and Kansas City both having a 0-2 record so far.
