Shilo Sanders has an $11.89 million bankruptcy fight waiting for him in court. That did not stop him from turning the entire situation into material when he saw what his brother was wearing.
Sanders reunited with Deion Sanders Jr., better known as Bucky, and immediately zeroed in on the collection of diamond chains hanging around his brother’s neck. In a viral clip, the former Colorado safety delivered a one-liner that probably requires knowing just how expensive his legal battle has become.

“Damn [expletive]. You got my bankruptcy on your neck right now,” Shilo joked while inspecting the jewelry.
When the authenticity of the pieces came up, the brothers kept going.
“No, bro, that’s not fake. That’s Todd’s Diamonds,” Sanders said before joking that his brother “put on these chains” despite apparently not planning to be seen.

The exchange was classic Sanders-family content, with Shilo finding an opening and refusing to waste it.
Deion Jr., meanwhile, has built his own profile through Well Off Media, documenting the family and Colorado football program while frequently appearing alongside his brothers.

The bankruptcy reference, however, was not pulled out of thin air.
Shilo filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in October 2023 with more than $11 million in debt. Most of that stems from an $11.89 million default judgment awarded in 2022 to John Darjean, a former security guard at Sanders’ school, following litigation over a disputed 2015 incident when Sanders was 15.
Sanders has maintained that he acted in self-defense.

Shilo Sanders’ Bankruptcy Trial Begins Aug. 31
The joke comes at a particularly notable time. Sanders’ bankruptcy trial is scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 31, in Denver and could last through Sept. 4.
The proceeding will determine whether the $11.89 million judgment can be discharged through bankruptcy. The court has already determined that the previous judgment has legal effect on causation and damages, while leaving questions involving intent, malicious injury, and Sanders’ self-defense argument for trial.
Sanders has remained visible away from football as the legal proceedings approach. After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released him during the 2025 preseason, he did not land with another NFL team and has recently shifted his attention toward music and content creation. His latest album rollout has already generated another viral moment.
The courtroom stakes are considerably more serious than Sunday’s interaction with his brother. For a few seconds, though, Sanders found a way to make an eight-figure bankruptcy case sound like nothing more than an extremely expensive piece of jewelry.
That might be one of the few times “you got my bankruptcy on your neck” can reasonably qualify as brotherly trash talk.
