Woody Marks, who has been a big addition to the Texans offense this season, got hurt in Sunday's game against the Colts. What happened?

Houston Texans running back Woody Marks has been an excellent addition to the Texans’ offense this season and has filled in well with Joe Mixon out. Marks, though, had to come out of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

What Happened To Texans RB Woody Marks?

In a game that saw the Colts’ Sauce Gardner leave it earlier with an injury, Marks also saw his time on the field stopped.

“Another key injury here in Indianapolis: Texans RB Woody Marks is questionable to return with a foot injury,” NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero posted on X. In limited action in the first quarter, Marks had three carries for no yards.

Marks’ role has been on the rise lately, something that was to be expected given his status as a rookie with room to grow compared to the established quantity that is Nick Chubb.

That said, running behind an offensive line that struggles to block is a difficult ask, no matter the age or pedigree of the back. Chubb will pick up work should this injury linger, and Dare Ogunbowale would be the next man up after that.

However, this is a situation where you shouldn’t overextend yourself: add a piece for depth, but not with high expectations, even if Marks were to miss time.

According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Marks has an impact score of 69.7 and grades out to a D+. For the season, Marks has 115 carries for 442 yards and two touchdowns. Chubb, for his part, has an impact score of 66.7 and grades out to a D. Chubb, so far this season, has 105 carries for 435 yards and two touchdowns.

Marks has also provided some help in the receiving corps this season. He has 17 catches for 185 yards and two touchdowns.

Marks was a fourth-round draft pick (No. 116 overall) out of USC by the Texans in the 2025 NFL Draft. Should Marks not be able to go for the rest of Sunday’s game, then Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud will have to lean on Chubb to take up the slack.

Houston aims to boost its NFL playoff chances with a big win on the road against its rival, Indianapolis, and will likely benefit from Gardner’s absence.
