Olivia Miles has quickly become one of the WNBA’s biggest rookie stories, but her latest attention has little to do with her production.
The Minnesota Lynx guard is facing backlash after allegedly liking an Instagram post that took a shot at WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark.
The interaction sparked strong reactions from Clark supporters, who questioned why Miles would engage with criticism of one of the league’s most recognizable stars.
Olivia Miles Faces Backlash Over a Post Critical of Caitlin Clark
The Instagram post, shared by the Entirely NBA page, compared Miles with Clark while taking aim at the attention surrounding the Fever superstar.
“Olivia Miles is what everyone thinks Caitlin Clark is,” the post read.
The comparison comes after Miles’ strong rookie season led to frequent comparisons with Clark.
Miles’ alleged interaction with the post quickly became the focus of the backlash. It was still visible at 5:49 a.m. ET on August 15th, and screenshots and reactions have continued circulating online.
One X user took a sharp dig at Miles, arguing, “This obsession with becoming ‘the next Caitlin’ while simultaneously taking shots at Caitlin is getting embarrassing. Pick a lane.”

Another Clark supporter directly questioned the rookie’s decision, pointing to Clark’s support for Miles.
“Olivia. Seriously?” the user asked. “Caitlin has ALWAYS said nice things about you and been supportive of you, and THIS is how you show appreciation for that respect that she gives you?”

One X user criticized Miles’ action as “truly an immature attitude for someone who’s supposed to be a professional athlete.”
“Really starting not to like Olivia Miles. She’s a bit too cocky. Girl, you’ll never be Caitlin Clark. Hannah Hidalgo made you change schools,” Jaime Lardis posted.
A separate Clark supporter took an even stronger shot, quipping, “I knew she’s part of the mean girls club from the start. You really can’t buy class and professionalism.”

The reaction comes during an impressive rookie season for Miles. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft has emerged as a major contributor in Minnesota’s 28-7 run this season and recently surpassed Clark as the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 650 points and 200 assists.
Miles has also faced scrutiny involving Clark before. During Lynx’s win over the Indiana Fever earlier in August, a physical collision between Miles and Clark drew heavy criticism of the rookie.
Later in the same game, ESPN’s Holly Rowe asked Miles about competing against Clark for the first time. Miles sidestepped Clark and instead praised veteran guard Kelsey Mitchell. That incident, too, didn’t sit well with Fever fans.
Now, for Miles, the alleged Instagram interaction has added another layer to the growing attention around her relationship with Clark amid a rookie season that has otherwise been defined by historic production on the court and rookie of the year talks.
Clark and Miles will meet on the court in back-to-back battles late in September, right before the start of the WNBA playoffs.
