The Indiana Fever are winning games, but are losing on another front. They currently have a 13-9 record and have won six of their last 10 games. They look like a team who are going in the right direction.
But their front office is trending the opposite way, and one decision from earlier this week has the WNBA world furious enough to demand accountability from the top.
Indiana Fever’s Recent Mistake Involving Justine Pissott
The Fever let rookie Justine Pissott walk away on Tuesday when they did not match the offer sheet that the Las Vegas Aces offered her.
According to head coach Stephanie White, keeping Pissott on the roster simply wasn’t workable, since it would have forced Indiana to cut either rookie Grace VanSlooten or veteran center Damiris Dantas to make room. Rather than lose either of those players, the Fever chose to part ways with the rookie forward out of Vanderbilt instead.
Then on Saturday night, Pissott finally made her WNBA debut wearing an Aces jersey and impressed everyone with her performance. Soon, the Fever supporters started blasting the Fever front office for the mistake that they made by not adding the 22-year-old to the team.
What Was the Reaction of the WNBA World?
Pissott was not active on the court on Saturday night for the full game. She entered in the fourth quarter and scored 19 points in just 10 minutes on 7-for-8 shooting. Moreover, she made five three-pointers, which was the most ever by a player in their WNBA debut. With her help, the Aces cruised to a 106-58 win.
As the rookie made an immediate impact elsewhere, many supporters questioned whether Indiana had missed out on adding another valuable contributor to an already competitive roster and blasted GM Amber Cox.

One influencer even tagged one of Indiana’s co-owners, Stephen Simon, while posting the criticism, arguing that the handling of the roster showed deeper organizational problems.
“Dear @stephenhsimon… Your family’s $500M asset (Fever) is insanely mismanaged. The FO/HC are intentionally sabotaging superstars AB & CC. They just let this record-setting rook go for NOTHING. So they could keep Dantas for ‘practice minutes’ and ‘culture,'” the influencer wrote.

One of the most surprising reactions came from “correlation,” which is an X page that is known for regularly posting supportive content about Caitlin Clark and the Fever.
The comment stood out because it came from an account that has often defended Indiana, and this showed just how unpopular the decision had become after Pissott’s breakout performance.

One user took the criticism a step further. According to them, both the front office and the coaching staff deserved to be held accountable for allowing a promising young talent to leave before she ever had the chance to prove herself in Indiana.

Whether Pissott can sustain this level of production remains to be seen, and one game is far from enough to judge a player’s long-term career. Still, her unforgettable debut has intensified scrutiny surrounding Indiana’s roster decisions.
