The WNBA MVP race is heating up as the regular season enters its final chapter. While the league navigates multiple off-court topics, multiple teams are gaining momentum as they look towards winning a championship.
Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant is an interested fan, and recently revealed the player he believes has separated herself as the best.
Dez Bryant Backs Olivia Miles As The WNBA MVP And Current Face Of The League
Bryant shared his thoughts on social media, saying on X “I guess…since nobody wants to talk about her… I’ll speak on it. I see ya.. Olivia Miles Rookie of the Year and your WNBA MVP… The Face!”

Miles and the Minnesota Lynx recently clinched a playoff spot after beating the Las Vegas Aces 98-87. The home win improved the Lynx’s record to 26-7 as they inch closer to securing home-court advantage during the playoffs.
Miles had another standout game against the Aces, with 26 points, four rebounds, and seven assists. Miles is having one of the greatest rookie seasons in league history, averaging 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game, while shooting 50.2% from the field, 38.6% from three, and 87.8% from the free-throw line.

Bryant believes Miles has earned the right to join Hall of Famer Candace Parker as the second player in WNBA history to win Rookie of the Year and MVP in the same season. Miles has arguably exceeded expectations as the second overall pick in this past Spring’s WNBA Draft, with the Dallas Wings facing tons of scrutiny from fans for passing on her as the top pick.
Miles has already shown improvement in her two weaknesses heading into the professional ranks: long-range shooting and defense.
That has already helped Miles become one of the best players in the league and, in Bryant’s opinion, has separated her from other MVP candidates like Aces star A’ja Wilson, Indiana Fever stars Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark, and Dallas Wings star Paige Bueckers.
Bryant’s belief that Miles is the face of the league will likely face pushback from fans who believe she’s not as popular as Clark, nor should she be mentioned ahead of standard-bearers like Wilson and New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart.
Miles plays a fan-friendly style, with her highlight-reel passes and charisma, and is unquestionably someone the league will market as a top star for years to come.
For now, Miles is focused on having the greatest rookie season in WNBA history, something she’d almost certainly achieve if she’s able to win a championship. Parker wasn’t able to win a championship in 2008 during her historic rookie season, but Miles and the Lynx are perhaps the favorite, especially with star player Napheesa Collier now healthy.
