Caitlin Clark’s Boyfriend Connor McCaffrey Provides Major Clue on Political Affiliation by Posting Photo With Politician

Caitlin Clark's boyfriend, Connor McCaffrey, provided a clue on their political affiliation by sharing a photo of himself with a politician.

Caitlin Clark has maintained her neutrality when asked to share her political views, choosing to focus strictly on basketball. However, fans and journalists have often attempted to piece together which side of the political spectrum she leans toward.

A post featuring her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, may now have provided a clue to deciphering the aforementioned query.

Clark and McCaffery met when they were both basketball standouts at the University of Iowa. They started dating in April 2023, and McCaffery is often seen courtside cheering for Clark at games.

Amid the off-court controversies surrounding the WNBA, Clark has often been asked about her political affiliations since being drafted into the league in 2024. However, she has always maintained a neutral stance on political matters, focusing only on basketball.

However, McCaffery provided a major clue to their possible political affiliation by posting a picture with Democratic politician Stacey Abrams. The 52-year-old served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2007 to 2017 and was the House Minority Leader from 2011 to 2017.

After losing the Governor race twice, Abrams stated she would not be running a third time in the 2026 election. “My highest calling this year is to expose this playbook, mobilize resistance, and help us reclaim our moral leadership. I remain committed to a multiracial, multigenerational democracy that delivers real freedom and opportunity for all,” said Abrams in January.

It’s clear that athletes worth millions of dollars aren’t always in a position to back one party outright, as they may not want to alienate half of their audience. This also comes into play when sponsorships may shift if the athlete they’re sponsoring becomes too politically charged.

Most recently, when asked to speak on the trans-athlete debate, Clark shared that she had no interest in weighing in. The debate was started by Clark’s Indiana Fever teammate Sophie Cunningham, who made it clear that she did not want trans athletes to compete in women’s sports.

It is worth noting that the image does not necessarily mean that Clark and McCaffery support democratic policies. However, it is unlikely to stop fans from continuing to speculate about where the WNBA superstar stands on her political beliefs.

On the court, Clark is enjoying a dominant year, averaging 22.0 points, 8.3 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game for the Fever.
