IN PHOTOS: Angel Reese Stuns in New Hairstyle Ahead of Sparks-Sky Clash

Angel Reese debuts a sleek braided bob via Instagram Stories ahead of Sparks–Sky showdown, after Chicago’s 80-93 loss to Atlanta on Sunday.

Fresh off a triple-double effort against the Connecticut Sun (June 15) that showcased Angel Reese’s all-around brilliance and left opponents scrambling, the 23-year-old forward has been continuously making headlines this year. She launched the new merch collection of her label “MeBounds,” unveiled the newly renovated basketball court in Oakwood Beach, and also won the BET’s Sportswoman of the Year nod.

Now, the “Bayou Barbie” has once again proven she’s as fearless off the court as she is on it, flaunting a chic new hairstyle just days before the Chicago Sky take on the Los Angeles Sparks.

Angel Reese Turns Heads with Braided Bob Ahead of Sky-Sparks Showdown

With her season averages soaring at 10.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season, Reese’s latest makeover comes as another statement. The 23-year-old forward took to her Instagram Story on Monday to debut a sleek, shoulder-skimming bob, featuring tight, even braids accented with light-brown highlights.

In her first Instagram story, she credited @sticthedbyindia for her braids and @crownedbyony for the sew-in. In another Story, she wrote, “This hair is sooo perfect! thank you bby.”

In her last snapshot, Reese wrote, “You really snatched up all my thoughts… thank yaaaaaa.”

Sporting textured braids atop a sharp bob, Reese’s look balances elegance and edge, underlining her evolution from a sports star to a fashion icon. After turning heads with her appearance at the 2025 MET Gala, she has been delivering back-to-back fashion masterpieces off the court.

Chicago Sky Loses to Atlanta Dream Once Again

Before turning the page to the Sparks tilt, the Sky endured a tough outing on June 22, dropping a 93–80 decision to the Atlanta Dream. Rhyne Howard spearheaded the Dream attack with 22 points, while Allisha Gray added 19 and Brionna Jones chipped in a 13-and-11 double-double to stifle Chicago’s comeback effort. Te-Hina Paopao scored 16 points off the bench in 21 minutes.

Despite each squad shooting around 42% from the field (Atlanta 42.4% and Chicago 42.2%), Atlanta’s barrage from deep (16 makes on 33 attempts) proved decisive. Chicago could only connect on 4-of-15 beyond the arc.

Chicago Sky’s Ariel Atkins added 29 points, which kept the team steady for long. Reese clinched another double-double by adding 10 points and 19 boards. Elizabeth Williams added 16 points and five rebounds off the bench in 22 minutes. Still, it wasn’t enough to beat Atlanta.

The Sky’s loss dropped them to 3–10 on the season and marked their third straight defeat. Earlier, they lost back-to-back games to the Washington Mystics (June 17) and the Phoenix Mercury (June 21).

With the Dream game in the rearview, all eyes now turn to Tuesday’s showdown against the Los Angeles Sparks at the Wintrust Arena (8 p.m. ET). Los Angeles arrives off a trio of losses but boasts a dynamic roster, including Kelsey Plum, Emma Cannon, and Dearica Hamby. Fans will wait to see if Reese can pull off another statement triple-double against the Sparks.
