Lane Johnson Ruled Out for Wild Card Game

Johnson will have to hope the Eagles advance if he wants his season to continue. He couldn’t overcome a foot injury this week and will have no choice but to watch from the sideline.

Johnson practiced this past week in hopes of playing against the 49ers. Unfortunately, it was only in spurts, and not enough to play. The Eagles’ offense has not been the juggernaut that many fans were expecting in 2025. The offense ranks 15th in PFSN’s Offense Impact Metric with an impact score of 74.6.

Philadelphia’s offensive line was its staple for years. It hasn’t been the same dominant unit in 2025 either. They rank 14th in PFSN’s Team OL Impact Metric. They are no longer a perennial top unit and will be without their star as well.

Luckily, the 49ers’ best two defenders, Fred Warner and Nick Bosa, won’t be on the field, either. It’s time for the Eagles to leave their offensive inconsistencies in the regular season. It’s now or never for Philadelphia. Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith are a list of offensive threats that nearly every team would love to have.

All four of them are coming off down years for their standards. Hurts has looked lost, Brown has been frustrated, and scoring points has become a challenge. Without their key offensive lineman, these playmakers have to make up for it and prove why they won it all last season.

The Eagles will head to Chicago if they can get past the 49ers. The Bears had their number early in the season, and a chance for revenge remains on the table. Chicago has plenty of momentum after taking down their biggest rival in dramatic fashion. Philadelphia is going to have to get through a gauntlet to return to the big game, but it all starts with overcoming adversity against a gritty San Francisco squad.
