As the NFL heads into Week 6, several teams deal with significant injury questions after a physically challenging first month and a half.
For NFL fans and fantasy managers, the injury list is critical for understanding who might be out or limited in the upcoming games. Here is a breakdown of the notable injuries and what you need to know about them.

Week 6 NFL Injury Report
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Saquon Barkley appeared on the Eagles’ DNP (Did Not Practice) list on Monday, October 6, due to a knee injury. Barkley played a significant role in the Eagles’ 21-17 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
After news of Barkley’s absence from the Eagles’ practice, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport offered an update on his status.
Source on Saquon Barkley: He had general soreness coming out of the game and fully expects to play Thursday night against the #Giants.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 6, 2025
Apparently, Barkley was only experiencing some soreness on Monday. Barkley played on Thursday night in the Eagles’ 34-17 loss to the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football.
Omarion Hampton, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Omarion Hampton suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s 27-10 loss to the Washington Commanders at SoFi Stadium. Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh announced on Monday that Hampton will go on Injured Reserve, meaning he’ll miss the next four weeks.
“Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh said RB Omarion Hampton will be placed injured reserve, sidelining him a minimum of four games due to his ankle injury,” ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter posted on Monday.

Hampton’s injury is just another major setback for the Chargers’ running back corps. The team already lost Najee Harris for the season, so they’re going to have to look elsewhere for rushing yards.
Update 10/8: Chargers officially placed Hampton on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, according to Schefter. The team also signed RB Kimani Vidal to the active roster from their practice squad. Signed RB Nyheim Hines to their practice squad.
Bucky Irving, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bucky Irving has been dealing with a strained foot, Schefter reported on Sunday, but he’s also suffering from a shoulder subluxation injury. That shoulder injury might be more painful for Irving, who Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield looks upon as a big contributor to the team’s offense.

Irving did not play in Sunday’s victory over the Seattle Seahawks and he’s not due back for Tampa Bay’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. This will be a situation that Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles will have to monitor as the week progresses.
Update 10/10: Irving was ruled out of Sunday’s game on Friday. Update 10/9: Irving was not seen on the field on Thursday during the portion open to the media, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Update 10/8: Irving was not seen at Wednesday’s walkthrough. Bowles did offer a brief update on Irving’s status: “It’s still his ankle and still his shoulder. He’s getting better by the day, so we’ll see.” Update 10/7: While the Buccaneers have not made an official announcement, Dr. Jesse Morse, in a post on X, said that it’s possible Irving returns this week.
Joe Mixon, RB, Houston Texans
There’s been no new movement in the news about Joe Mixon. He has been dealing with a foot injury since before the season started and has been on the Texans’ Injured Reserve.
Mixon did not play on Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. On September 29, Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans indicated that Mixon was not ready to return at that time. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC-TV in Houston, the timetable for Mixon’s return will be much longer if he plays at all this season.
Update 10/7: Texans general manager addressed Mixon’s situation on Tuesday in a press conference.

“Over the next few weeks we should have a better idea, he’s making progress,” Caserio said. The Texans have a bye week in Week 6.
Lamar Jackson, QB, Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson did not play on Sunday against the Houston Texans because he has been dealing with a hamstring injury. Cooper Rush started at quarterback for the Ravens in the Texans’ huge 44-10 victory in Baltimore on Sunday.
Harbaugh: Snoop Huntley will be considered at QB if Lamar Jackson (hamstring) can’t play Week 6.
— Underdog NFL (@UnderdogNFL) October 6, 2025
On Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that Snoop Huntley would be considered as the starting QB for his team if Jackson cannot go.
Besides Jackson, the Ravens played the Texans without cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie and Marlon Humphrey, tackle Emery Jones Jr., fullback Patrick Ricard, and inside linebacker Roquan Smith.
Update 10/10: Jackson was ruled out on Friday and it’s looking more like Cooper Rush will start for a second straight week. Rush, indeed, will be the starting QB. Additionally, the Ravens ruled out MLB Roquan Smith, FB Pat Ricard, OT. Emery Jones, and CB Chidobe Awuzie. Update 10/9: Jackson did not practice on Thursday, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Update 10/8: Jackson remained out of practice on Wednesday, according to NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo. Update 10/7: According to a new story from PFSN, Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer offered a quick update on Jackson’s situation heading into this week. “I was told there’s an outside shot for next week, so they don’t want to shut it down yet,” Glazer said. “But the bye is coming after that, obviously. If they decide to (hold) him out next week, then they get three weeks of rest for him, but they’re not saying he’s out yet for next week.” … The Ravens also added safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who recently played with the Houston Texans before being released, to their practice squad.
Spencer Shrader, K, Indianapolis Colts
Spencer Shrader suffered a torn MCL and ACL in his right leg on Sunday while making a PAT try in the second quarter of the Colts’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders. As he swung his leg through, a Raiders player ran into his right leg.

Update 10/7: The Colts have signed kicker Michael Badgley to their active roster as a replacement for Shrader. Shrader was placed on the Injured Reserve list on Tuesday.
Antonio Gibson, RB, New England Patriots
Update 10/10: Antonio Gibson, who tore his ACL, was officially placed on Injured Reserve on Friday.
Trey Benson, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Schefter reported last week that Trey Benson, the Cardinals’ RB2 to open the season, was placed on Injured Reserve after suffering a knee injury. Benson underwent arthroscopic surgery on his meniscus and will be out between “four and six weeks.”
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said last week that he expected Benson to return later this season.
David Moore, WR, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers placed David Moore on Injured Reserve last week. Moore suffered an elbow injury and will miss at least four games for Carolina.

Moore was injured on Carolina’s first play from scrimmage in a game against the New England Patriots when he took a jet sweep and ran 12 yards. Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones brought Moore down after grabbing his arm. Moore was carted off the field.

Brock Purdy, QB, San Francisco 49ers
Brock Purdy has been having a heck of a time getting over a turf toe injury. Backup QB Mac Jones started on Sunday, and, from the looks of it, Purdy is still out.

At Monday’s 49ers practice, Jones was spotted on the field wearing a left knee brace, but Purdy was not. Adrian Martinez was the only healthy QB at San Francisco’s practice. The 49ers will monitor Purdy’s situation as the week rolls along.
Update 10/10: Purdy did not practice on Friday, but was doing side-field work, according to 49ers Reporter Cam Inman for Bay Area News Group. Update 10/9: Purdy did not practice on Thursday, according to Schefter.
Terry McLaurin, WR, Washington Commanders
Update 10/11: Commanders head coach Dan Quinn ruled McLaurin, along with fellow WR Noah Brown, have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Update 10/8: McLaurin did not practice on Wednesday. Update 10/7: The Commanders did not practice on Tuesday. They will return to practice on Wednesday, so there might be an update on McLaurin’s status at that time.
Terry McLaurin has been dealing with a quadriceps injury and did not play on Sunday. On Monday, though, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn offered a positive note regarding McLaurin’s health.
Quinn said he’s “optimistic” about Terry McLaurin for this week and reiterates that he and others — Noah Brown, Sam Cosmi — are trending in the right direction. Having the extra day helps. But, stop me if you’ve heard this one, we’ll find out more later in the week.
— John Keim (@john_keim) October 6, 2025
Quinn sounded “optimistic” about McLaurin’s return but wants to see how the rest of this week pans out. As McLaurin’s supposed return approaches, this situation will likely evolve throughout the week.

Update 10/10: Lamb and Turpin both have been ruled out of Sunday’s game. Other Cowboys ruled out include OG Tyler Booker. Update 10/9: Lamb was on the practice field again on Thursday, working with resistance cords, according to ESPN Cowboys reporter Todd Archer. Turpin was not at practice on Thursday. Lamb was listed as a DNP on Wednesday’s team injury report. Machota also reported that Turpin does not expect to play on Sunday. Turpin also was a DNP on Wednesday. The expectation is that Turpin will be back in Week 7 against the Washington Commanders.
CeeDee Lamb, along with fellow Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin, did not play on Sunday against the New York Jets.
Lamb has been dealing with an ankle injury. While he went through some practices with Dallas last week, he did not play.
