WATCH: Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence and Travis Hunter Go Viral for Coming Up With Hilarious Custom Handshake

Trevor Lawrence and Travis Hunter came up with a custom handshake ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Will they have enough opportunities to recreate it?

The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Travis Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft by trading up to combine him with star quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The pair seems to be already enjoying playing together.

The Jaguars’ quarterback and the rookie have devised a custom handshake, probably to celebrate the many touchdowns they aim to score in the upcoming season.

Travis Hunter and Trevor Lawrence’s Signature Handshake

Hunter, Lawrence, and other teammates have traveled to the Bahamas after wrapping up the OTAs and the mandatory minicamp. The grind is still on, and they are working on routes and sweating it out to prepare for the 2025 NFL season.

The Jaguars’ wide receiver Dayami Brown shared some moments from the team’s trip to the Bahamas on his YouTube channel, including the funny handshake between the two-way rookie and Lawrence.

The duo slaps their palms and backs of their hands a couple of times before standing side by side holding each other’s hands and doing a wave-like movement. The next step involved holding the nose while squatting slightly, and they concluded by tucking their arms under their armpits and standing with their backs touching.

Lawrence is returning from an injury, and his contribution will be crucial for the Jaguars to bounce back from a 4-13 season. Sports commentator Sara Walsh revealed the quarterback’s plans with Hunter in the offseason during an episode of the “The Insiders” show.

“Trevor also said in the next couple of weeks he’s going to be spending quite a bit of time with Hunter so that they can work on timing and then also just to be going over everything in a new system, because it’s not just new to Hunter, it’s really new to everyone,” she said.

The Jaguars gave up their 2026 first-round pick and additional draft capital to trade up for Hunter at No. 2 overall. The rookie is a rare two-way player who will line up at cornerback and wide receiver.

The two-way rookie has impressed the NFL world with his productivity. However, Hunter’s road to the NFL will be difficult. He will have to manage his health while living up to his offensive and defensive abilities.

Hunter recorded 96 passes for 1,258 yards, 15 touchdowns, and four interceptions in his final season with the Buffaloes. If he builds great chemistry with Lawrence, the duo can spearhead Jacksonville to a deep run in the postseason.
