The Minnesota Vikings had an extremely busy Friday after Kwesi Adofo-Mensah announced his departure after four years as general manager. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next GM, but the wait may be longer than expected.
Rob Brzezinski Set to Run Vikings’ Football Operations Until After NFL Draft
According to the latest reports from Ari Meirov and Adam Schefter, instead of an immediate hire, veteran executive Rob Brzezinski will take over the franchise’s football operations until the 2026 NFL Draft, which is just under three months away.
The #Vikings won’t hire a new GM until after the NFL Draft. Rob Brzezinski, who has been there a long time, will run the show for now. https://t.co/N7LRRB7KcE

Brzezinski has been with the Vikings since 1999 and has more than three decades of experience in the league, including a stint with the Miami Dolphins. He originally joined as director of football administration and was later promoted to vice president of football operations.
It is precisely because of this confidence in Brzezinski that the GM position will be filled on an interim basis in the coming months. A more detailed search for a replacement for Adofo-Mensah will begin just after the NFL Draft.
Vikings owner/president Mark Wilf said he expects to conduct “a thorough search” for a new general manager after the draft.

Everything indicates that Brzezinski will have the final word on the Vikings’ moves this offseason, from the free-agent market in March to the Draft in late April. However, head coach Kevin O’Connell and defensive coordinator Brian Flores are expected to play active, influential roles in this decision-making process.
Between 2002 and 2005, Brzezinski was practically in charge of the franchise’s sports management before Rick Spielman arrived in 2006. The executive is widely recognized for his mastery of salary cap management.
As the team’s chief negotiator, he has earned a reputation as a “budget master,” capable of restructuring finances to retain talent or bring in key reinforcements. Throughout his career, he has coordinated transactions totaling more than $1 billion, including historic deals with Randy Moss, Brett Favre, and Kirk Cousins, who ranks No. 30 in the PFSN QB Impact metric with a C- grade.
If there are no further changes in the coming days, it appears that assistant general managers Ryan Grigson and Demitrius Washington will continue to hold key positions with the Vikings alongside Brzezinski. Other key executives such as Mike Sholiton, Ryan Monnens, Jamaal Stephenson, and Chisom Opara are also expected to remain in their positions.
Despite this, it is noteworthy that Minnesota waited 4 weeks after the season ended to fire Adofo-Mensah. Therefore, it is expected that there has been a planned change of course for the offseason in recent days, and new information should be released soon.
