‘Unquestioned Worst QB in the NFC East’ — NFL Analyst Makes Brutal Giants Call While Naming Division’s Best Head Coach

One NFL Analyst made a bold claim regarding the New York Giants in comparison to the rest of the NFC East before Week 1.

The New York Giants have made their final roster decisions heading into Week 1. Head coach John Harbaugh made some tough decisions before the 2026 NFL season. And now, they head into battle in their quest for a Super Bowl.

One area New York did not need to be concerned with this fall was the quarterback. They have their long-term starter at center in the form of Jaxson Dart, who will lead the offense this year and is the man trusted with the keys.

Dart has drawn a ton of buzz since his debut last season. However, despite glowing praise for his head coach, there are some in the NFL world who are not fans of the quarterback himself.

Giants’ Jaxson Dart Hit with Brutal Claim Amid John Harbaugh Praise

NFL analyst Tommy Lugauer appeared on “WFAN Sports Radio” recently to break down the NFC East. During this analysis, he made a bold claim stating that the Giants “have the unquestioned worst QB in the NFC East, but the best head coach.”

“If you rank the quarterbacks in the NFC East, and you put Dart above any of the other three quarterbacks, you’re doing it for attention,” Lugauer said. “As far as head coaches, though, the Giants have the best head coach in the NFC East.”

Dart took over the offense last season and made an immediate impact. He threw for 2,272 yards in 14 games, tossing 15 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. According to PFN’s QB Impact Metric, Dart posted an impact score of 73.4, ranking 23rd in the league.

New York finished the season with a 4-13 record, but they certainly showed promise with Dart under center.

The second-year quarterback is looking to take a step forward. But he will need to do so with an unfamiliar coaching staff. Brian Daboll was fired as head coach after last season’s disaster. In his place is the veteran Harbaugh.

Harbaugh was fired by the Baltimore Ravens after the 2025 season for failing to make the playoffs. They elected to move on, and Harbaugh landed with the Giants ahead of 2026.

It’s hard to truly gauge how New York will fare in 2026 as it adjusts to a new coaching staff. However, it’s clear this team has a lot of faith in Dart as the starting quarterback.

Giants fans are eager to see their young signal-caller in action this season. They won’t need to wait much longer to see him in games that count, either. New York begins its 2026 season on September 13 against Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.
