Tyreek Hill Takes 5-Word Dig at Dolphins Critics

Tyreek Hill cheered on the Dolphins from the sidelines as Miami shocked the Falcons, proving they can win even without their injured star receiver.

Miami Dolphins star receiver Tyreek Hill might not be seen on the field anytime soon, but he’s still engaged and pulling for his teammates. Ahead of his team’s matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, few people were giving the Dolphins any hope of competing, let alone winning the game. Yet, past halftime, the Dolphins are ahead 34-10, quieting the Atlanta Falcons’ home crowd.

What Was Tyreek Hill’s Reaction?

In response to the strong start, Hill took a jab at team critics, who have been relentless during Miami’s 1-6 start to the 2025 NFL season. In a brief X post, Hill said, “App real quiet right now” – a clear clap back to those critics.

Fans and the NFL media have been scrutinizing Miami with a magnifying glass, even before the season, as it seemed highly possible that they could struggle in a talented division with internal problems persisting. Among those responsible for the internal issues was Hill himself.

If you don’t remember, after the team’s 2024 regular season finale against the New York Jets, the star receiver said, “This is the first time I haven’t been in the playoffs, man, so I mean, for me I just gotta do what’s best for me and my family, whether that’s here or wherever the case may be. …

I’m finna open that door for myself, dog. I’m opening the door. I’m out, bro. It was great playing here, but at the end of the day, I got to do what’s best for my career. I’m too much of a competitor to be just out there.”

Hill later walked back his comments, but the damage had already been done. It opened the door for the media to look further into the Dolphins’ culture and the team’s me-first mentality.

Hill’s Season Before the Injury

While the Dolphins had gotten off to a shaky 1-3 start, Hill was just starting to return to his old self. Weeks 1-4 saw Hill put up 265 yards on 21 catches and a touchdown, registering PFSN Wide Receiver Impact Grades of 75.2, 79.9, and 77.2 in the first three weeks.

Without Hill, the Dolphins’ offense continues to play below average, with a PFSN Offensive Impact Grade of 70.4. Unsurprisingly, they’ve been even more reliant on running back De’Von Achane, who has racked up 683 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns through seven games.

If Miami wants to hold on to its lead, it’ll have to keep making sure he’s involved in the offense. If not, Head Coach Mike McDaniel will have to answer some uncomfortable questions after the game.
