Week 18 had some important implications for the Jacksonville Jaguars, such as a win that secured the AFC South and possibly the No. 1 seed, and, along with that, in a blowout win over the Tennessee Titans, quarterback Trevor Lawrence broke a record that had stood for a decade.
Trevor Lawrence Breaks Jaguars Record That Lasted 10 Years
In the win over the Saints, Lawrence threw touchdowns to wide receiver Parker Washington and tight ends Brenton Strange and Quintin Morris.
On his touchdown pass to Morris, Lawrence broke the Jaguars’ single-season total touchdown record with 38, surpassing former Jaguars signal-caller Blake Bortles, who recorded 37 in 2015.

Heading into this game, Lawrence had 3,752 passing yards, 26 touchdown passes, 12 interceptions, 348 rushing yards, nine touchdowns, and a QB Impact score of 76.9 (16th). He also ranked 16th in Jacob Infante’s QB rankings after Week 16.
He has had just one interception since November 23rd, and he led the Jaguars to an impressive Week 16 win over the likely No. 1 seed in the AFC, the Denver Broncos, beating them 34-20, with three touchdown passes.
In Week 18, before exiting against the Tennessee Titans, Lawrence completed 22 of 30 passes for 255 yards and three touchdowns.
This has easily been the best season of his career under first-year head coach Liam Coen, who came into the team after a massively successful season as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season.
With the win, the Jaguars will at least have the No. 3 seed. However, that can change, but only in a way that raises their seeding.
If the New England Patriots and Broncos both lose in Week 18, the Jaguars will be the No. 1 seed.
However, the Broncos’ opponent, the Los Angeles Chargers, are resting starters, which should make it much easier for the Broncos to get the win.
They can also become the No. 2 seed, though, if the Patriots lose and the Broncos win. If that happens, the Jaguars will be at home against either the Chargers, the Houston Texans, or the Buffalo Bills.
The Chargers are a team that Lawrence took down in the 2022-23 playoffs, coming back from a 27-0 deficit and winning 31-30 while completing 28 of 47 passes for 288 yards, four touchdowns, and four interceptions.
Regardless, the Jaguars will host a first-round playoff game. From here, they’ll be watching the Broncos-Chargers game, along with the Patriots and Bills, to see who they’re hosting and need to prepare for, unless, of course, they win the No. 1 seed.
