The New England Patriots will be keeping an eye on TreVeyon Henderson after the second-year running back was unable to finish Monday’s practice. Henderson’s status could have implications for the Patriots’ backfield, which is expected to feature him alongside Rhamondre Stevenson.
What Happened to TreVeyon Henderson?
Henderson did not finish Monday’s practice after slipping while making a cut, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Mike Kadlick of Sports Illustrated reported that Henderson was dealing with “a right leg/ankle injury.”

More updates are expected after practice regarding the extent of Henderson’s injury. The Patriots have not yet provided a diagnosis or timetable for his return.
The severity of the injury will ultimately determine whether this is simply a short-term practice concern or something that could alter New England’s plans in the backfield.
Patriots RB Depth Chart: Rhamondre Stevenson Could See More Work

The workload split between Stevenson and Henderson remains a question mark. However, the latter’s injury could significantly impact how New England distributes its snaps and touches.

If Henderson is forced to miss time, Stevenson would be the biggest beneficiary. He would go from competing for touches in a committee to potentially handling the overwhelming majority of New England’s backfield work.
Henderson had an impressive rookie campaign, earning a 75.0 grade and finishing 21st in PFN’s RB Impact Metric with 1,241 yards from scrimmage (including playoffs), 987 rushing yards, 254 receiving yards, and 10 total touchdowns on 258 touches.
Stevenson was not far behind at No. 24, with a 74.3 grade on PFN’s RB Impact rating. accumulated 1,291 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns on 242 touches, including 820 rushing yards and 471 receiving yards.
Hasty could be the next option behind Stevenson, with NFL experience, and could provide value, particularly in passing situations. He has averaged 4.0 yards per carry across 121 career rushing attempts, although his role has generally been limited.
For now, the Patriots are awaiting more information on Henderson’s right lower-leg issue. Until the team provides a diagnosis or timetable, the extent of the setback remains unclear.
