Travis Hunter is heading to Duval County — and it sounds like he knew the Jacksonville Jaguars had made a major move to land his unique talents.
He had a unique but clear message for the man who traded for him: James Gladstone, the youngest general manager in the NFL.
Travis Hunter Tells Jaguars GM: “Yes, Sir, That’s the Best Decision”
According to Michael Silver of The Athletic, Hunter spoke with Gladstone after the team traded up to the No. 2 overall pick. The message? Simple and confident.
“Yes, sir, that’s the best decision,” Hunter reportedly told Gladstone.

It’s unclear whether Hunter was tipped off during the interview process, but the conversation suggests the Jaguars made it clear this trade was all about him, and he didn’t hesitate to express his approval.
The Browns, who had already pulled off a pre-draft deal with the Texans, struck again by sending the No. 2 overall pick, plus fourth- (No. 104) and sixth-round (No. 200) selections to Jacksonville. In return, Cleveland received the Jaguars’ No. 5 pick along with second- and fourth-rounders (Nos. 36 and 126).
Hunter, who won the 2024 Heisman Trophy and has built a reputation as one of college football’s rare two-way stars, now joins a Jacksonville team in transition. The Jaguars’ offense, led by quarterback Trevor Lawrence, regressed last season. The team parted ways with head coach Doug Pederson, replacing him with former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Cohen.
GM James Gladstone is also new to the building. Both Cohen and Gladstone arrive from a Sean McVay-led system in Los Angeles and bring a winning pedigree with them.
Hunter may have multiple reasons to view this as the “best decision.” Not only does he bring explosive potential to the Jaguars’ offense, but he can also contribute on defense. His versatility could be a game-changer for a roster still filling key holes.
The move signals a clear plan by Jacksonville — a move that may have been in the works for a while. Whether it turns out to be the best decision will be determined over time. But given Hunter’s elite talent on both sides of the ball, it’s hard to argue with the pick.
The Jaguars didn’t just draft a wide receiver or a cornerback. They got both in one of the most electrifying players in recent draft memory.
If Hunter lives up to his billing, the Jaguars may have pulled off the steal of the draft — landing a rare two-way star who can redefine both sides of the game.
