This offseason, the Cleveland Browns made a major organization move by firing two-time Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski and hiring former Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken as their new head coach.
It sounds like Monken is already changing the culture because he fired back at neighbors who complained about the team’s music during mini-camp in Berea, Ohio.
Head Coach Todd Monken Fires Back at Neighbors in Berea, Ohio
On April 21, the Browns kicked off their minicamp ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. It marked the first time Monken had stepped onto the field with the team during offseason workouts.
Clearly, everyone was excited because it led the team to receive noise complaints from surrounding neighbors.
Instead of taking the neighbors’ complaints into account, Monken said the following:
“It was three days, and the weather was unbelievable. To get out on the grass, pump the music, and get fired up together, and the neighbors complained, and we didn’t care. We pumped up the music louder; they don’t like it, they can move. And so I didn’t care; it was like being out there with the guys, just getting a feel for who we have on our roster.”
Monken is clearly fired up to have football back, but then he went on to talk about the performances of the three quarterbacks – Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson, and Dillon Gabriel:
“I thought all three quarterbacks, at times, you could see the positives in their game and learning the new system. They’ve been awesome in the meeting rooms and on the field. It was just kinda dipping our toe in the water, but I thought Deshaun looked really good at times, and there are other things he’s gotta work on. Same with Shedeur and Dillon. It was a heck of a lot of fun being out there.”
Last season, the Browns ranked as the worst offense in the NFL with an impact score of 52.0 and a letter grade of F in PFSN’s NFL Offensive Impact Metric. Now, the organization is hoping to take a step forward under the offensive-minded Monken.

For that to happen, their three quarterbacks will need to take a jump as well. Last season in PFSN’s NFL Quarterback Impact Metric, Sanders and Gabriel were two of the worst quarterbacks in the league. The only quarterback below them was Jake Browning, and not by much. Then there’s Watson, who missed the entirety of last season due to an injury he suffered during 2024.
The Browns have done a number of things to improve ahead of the 2026 NFL season, including drafting offensive lineman Spencer Fano and receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. If those quarterbacks can take a step, the Browns should win more than a few games.
