The Houston Texans have found themselves in a challenging position due to injuries. The most significant issue has been the absence of starting quarterback C.J. Stroud, who remains out of action with a concussion.
As the team prepares for a Sunday road game against the Tennessee Titans, the status of another key player is now a major concern.
What Is the Latest on Texans Tight End Dalton Schultz?
Houston tight end Dalton Schultz has been dealing with a shoulder injury, and until Thursday, he had not returned to practice. His absence raised questions about his availability for Sunday’s matchup.
Fortunately, on Friday, Schultz returned to practice, which was a positive sign for his chances of playing in Week 11.

Later in the day, the Texans released the full injury report for Week 11. Schultz holds no injury designation and is set to play this week.
With Stroud already ruled out for Sunday, Ryans will turn to backup quarterback Davis Mills to lead the Texans offense once again. This comes after Mills orchestrated a furious fourth-quarter comeback last Sunday when Houston defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 36-29 at NRG Stadium.
However, Schultz being available means Mills will have one of his most sure-handed receivers. According to the PFSN NFL TE Impact metrics, Schultz has an 80.5 TE Impact Score, grading out to a B-minus. This season, he has recorded 45 receptions for 438 yards and one touchdown.

Although Schultz will be playing, Texans offensive coordinator Nick Caley will have to get creative with the offense on Sunday as the team hasn’t played well this season.
According to the PFSN NFL Offense Impact metrics, the Texans have a 71.2 Offensive Impact Score and grade out to a C-minus. The team’s offensive grade has been slightly reduced by Stroud’s less effective performance this season compared to previous years.
The Houston offense must find a way to get an early lead against a Titans team that is pretty much already playing for the 2026 NFL Draft. A fast start could be critical for a short-handed unit.
Schultz entered the NFL in 2018 with the Dallas Cowboys and played his first five seasons with the team. Since joining the Texans organization in 2023, he has become a key part of their aerial attack.
