Following a tough loss on Monday Night Football, the Washington Commanders have received more bad news, this time regarding star wide receiver Terry McLaurin. The injury saga involving McLaurin continues to be a major concern for head coach Dan Quinn and the Commanders as the team prepares for its Week 9 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night.
After returning from a quad injury to play in Monday night’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, McLaurin exited early, raising serious doubts about his availability going forward. Now, for Week 9, the decision has been made.
Will Terry McLaurin Play in Week 9?
The Commanders have confirmed that McLaurin aggravated the quad injury he first suffered in Week 3 and have ruled him out for the team’s upcoming meeting with the Seahawks.

“Commanders ruled out WR Terry McLaurin for Sunday’s game vs. Seattle due to his quad injury,” NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on X. Following his return in Week 8, McLaurin had missed four straight games with a right quad injury. In his brief appearance, he caught three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown before being forced to exit after reaggravating the injury.
When asked about the severity of McLaurin’s setback, coach Quinn remained hopeful but did not provide extensive details.

“Too early to predict,” Quinn said when asked if the injury would keep his two-time Pro Bowl receiver sidelined long term, adding that he and his staff hope it is not a significant issue.
How Does This Impact an Already Depleted Roster?
McLaurin rejoins a long list of injured players, including starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, who will also be on the sidelines when Washington hosts Seattle on Sunday night.
The injury spells more trouble for an offense that is already spread thin. Without McLaurin, quarterback Marcus Mariota has one less weapon available as he tries to steady the ship and keep the Commanders in the playoff race while filling in for Daniels.
Through eight games, the Commanders have a 3-5 record and desperately need a win against the Seahawks to break a three-game losing streak. According to PFN, Washington’s offense holds a C+ grade with an offensive impact score of 79.9, which ranks 11th in the NFL.
With McLaurin back on the sideline, Mariota’s job has become much tougher. Losing a receiver of his caliber is a significant blow to the Commanders and the league as a whole.
The team now faces the challenge of returning to the win column without its star wideout for the foreseeable future. Coach Quinn and his staff hope McLaurin returns to full health soon because this offense would not have happened without him.
