Taylor Fritz vs Karen Khachanov Preview

Despite a slow start to the season and an underwhelming clay-court run, Fritz found his rhythm on grass. He arrived at Wimbledon in strong form, coming off a title win in Halle and securing his fourth career triumph in Eastbourne.

The American began his Wimbledon campaign against a big server in Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. The Frenchman put up a strong fight, pushing the match to three tie-breaks, but Fritz ultimately prevailed in five sets. In the second round, rising Canadian star Gabriel Diallo pushed Fritz to another five-set battle, but the American held firm to win 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(0), 4-6, 6-3.

The World No. 5 defeated Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-4, 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-1 in the third round. He then progressed to his second straight Wimbledon quarterfinal after Australia’s Jordan Thompson retired in the fourth round while trailing 6-1, 3-0.

Khachanov, meanwhile, began his grass-court campaign at the Libema Open, entering as the second seed with a first-round bye. He defeated American Mackenzie McDonald in his opening match but fell to Gabriel Diallo in the quarterfinals.

The Russian continued his grass-court season at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, where he defeated Zizou Bergs, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Tomas Etcheverry to reach the semifinals. He then faced eventual champion Alexander Bublik and, despite taking the first set 6-4, lost the next two 6-7(7), 4-6 to bow out of the tournament.

The World No. 20 carried that momentum into Wimbledon, securing wins over Mackenzie McDonald, Shintaro Mochizuki, Nuno Borges, and Kamil Majchrzak to advance to the quarterfinals.

Taylor Fritz vs Karen Khachanov Head-to-Head

Fritz and Khachanov have faced each other twice on tour, with the 2025 Wimbledon quarterfinal marking their first meeting in nearly five years. The Russian leads 2-0 in their head-to-head, having won their last encounter in three sets at the 2020 ATP Cup.

Taylor Fritz vs Karen Khachanov Prediction

Fritz enters the Wimbledon quarterfinals with a solid 29–11 win-loss record for the season, including an impressive 12–1 run on grass. Khachanov, meanwhile, holds a 22–15 record overall and is 8–2 on grass this year.

The American also holds a slight edge in grass-court win percentage, at 66.67% compared to Khachanov’s 63.64%. Given his greater overall experience on the surface and slightly better current form, Fritz may carry a slight advantage into Tuesday’s clash.

His powerful serve could further tip the scales, as he has won 82% of his first-serve points compared to Khachanov’s 71%. Even on the second serve, Fritz leads with 67% points won, while the Russian stands at 57%.
