As the iconic Wimbledon Championships draw near, former US Open champion Sloane Stephens has offered a heartfelt glimpse into how much the tournament still means to her.
Currently sidelined with a foot injury, Stephens admitted to missing the sport dearly after seeing herself suited up in Wimbledon’s traditional all-white attire.
Injury-Plagued Year Leaves Sloane Stephens Longing for Wimbledon
Stephens, who burst into tennis prominence over a decade ago and famously reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2013, has been grappling with a challenging stretch in her career. Her 2025 season has been particularly rocky, marred by physical setbacks and a prolonged slump in form.
After an early exit at the 2024 Championships, where she won her opening match before losing in the second round, Stephens has since endured a 10-match losing streak. A recurring right ankle issue forced her to withdraw from key events, including Indian Wells, and she has been largely absent from the WTA Tour in recent months.
Now in recovery mode, Stephens appears to be making steady progress, at least enough to return to practice sessions. In a recent Instagram post, the 32-year-old shared a carousel of images showing her in motion, dressed in a sleek, all-white practice outfit reminiscent of Wimbledon’s famously strict dress code.
“Miss it more than I’d like to admit,” she wrote.

Away From Tennis, Stephens Rekindles Her Passion in a New Role
With her 2025 singles season derailed by injury and uneven form, Stephens has turned her attention to a surprising new chapter off the court. The former Grand Slam champion is thriving as both a sideline reporter and tennis commentator.
While recovering from foot surgery, Stephens joined the Tennis Channel broadcast team, working alongside veterans Tracy Austin and Paul Annacone. Her growing presence in media continued at the 2025 French Open, where she took on a more prominent on-camera role for TNT Sports.
Stephens took to Instagram Stories to thank fans for embracing her transition into broadcasting, writing: “I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone supporting me on this journey,” she wrote.
“I have never felt so much love and support. I have so many incredible moments in my tennis life and this is definitely one i will always remember. I appreciate every msg and note that you’ve all sent my way. It doesn’t go unnoticed.”
