The final Grand Slam of the year is officially underway, but the 2026 US Open has been hit by several withdrawals. Taking place at Flushing Meadows in New York, the tournament is missing some of tennis’s biggest names, including World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, due to injuries and physical issues. Here is a look at the key players who will miss the 2026 US Open and the reasons behind their absences.
WTA Tour
Victoria Mboko
The 20-year-old Canadian was not listed on the official 2026 US Open entry list because the knee injury she sustained after a fall at the HSBC Championships in June has not fully healed. The injury forced the World No. 15 to miss the rest of the grass-court season, including Wimbledon, as well as the Canadian Open, where she is the defending champion.
Hailey Baptiste
American World No. 34 Hailey Baptiste will miss the final Grand Slam on home soil as she continues to recover from an ACL tear suffered during the clay-court swing. She has confirmed that her season is over after the injury forced her to retire in the first set of her second-round match at Roland-Garros.
Emma Raducanu
Former champion Emma Raducanu will miss the US Open after withdrawing due to an ongoing stress fracture in her leg. The setback comes after she also missed Wimbledon, raising doubts about whether the 23-year-old British star will return to action before the end of 2026. The injury keeps her from returning to New York, where she won her first Grand Slam title in 2021 as a qualifier.
Jaqueline Cristian
The World No. 43 withdrew after suffering a right knee injury during the grass-court season. The Romanian underwent surgery a month ago and has missed all tournaments since Wimbledon.
Ajla Tomljanovic
2022 US Open quarterfinalist Ajla Tomljanovic will miss this year’s tournament after ending her 2026 season early due to a series of minor injuries. The 33-year-old Australian has not played since her first-round loss at Wimbledon and has dealt with recurring physical issues throughout the season.
The World No. 103 had made her biggest impact in Flushing Meadows by defeating Serena Williams in the third round in 2022, Williams’ final singles match before stepping away from the sport for four years.
Laura Siegemund
Laura Siegemund has withdrawn from the US Open and decided to take a temporary break from tennis after her exit at Wimbledon. The World No. 102 German has not played an official match since and is stepping away to recharge mentally and physically, with no return date set.
Jil Teichmann
Jil Teichmann will miss the event due to physical fatigue and an ongoing right-leg injury sustained at Wimbledon. The 29-year-old Swiss player, currently ranked No. 175, would have entered the main draw using her protected ranking of No. 89.
Varvara Gracheva
The French World No. 148 has also withdrawn from the tournament. She suffered an ACL tear in her knee during training at the end of March and has not played since the Miami Open.

Jannik Sinner
The World No. 1 and reigning Wimbledon champion withdrew from the US Open due to persistent right knee inflammation. The 2024 US Open champion confirmed that he needs more time to recover after also pulling out of Cincinnati, ruling him out as one of the tournament’s biggest title favorites. Last year, he lost the final to Carlos Alcaraz, who won sixth of his seven Grand Slam titles.
Joao Fonseca
The Brazilian World No. 26 was forced to withdraw at the last minute due to an abdominal injury sustained just days prior, following his second-round win at the Cincinnati Open.
Sebastian Korda
Former World No. 15 Sebastian Korda has withdrawn as he continues to recover from back surgery. The injury has kept him out since his Round of 16 run at the Miami Open in March.
Emilio Nava
The American World No. 111 joins the extensive list of injured players missing out on a home Grand Slam appearance. His last match was a first-round loss at Wimbledon.
Holger Rune
Former World No. 4 Holger Rune, now ranked No. 133, will skip the US Open as he continues to recover from a ruptured Achilles tendon and knee problems. The 23-year-old Dane has not played competitive tennis since suffering the injury in the Stockholm semifinals last year.
Jack Draper
World No. 141 Jack Draper will also miss the Grand Slam due to a bone bruise in his dominant left arm. The 24-year-old has struggled with injuries for over a year. Draper played at the National Bank Open but lost to Terence Atmane in the first round, 3-6, 6-2, 2-6. He then competed at the Cincinnati Open, where he lost to Martin Landaluce in the first round, leaving the court frustrated and in tears.
Draper did not receive a direct entry into the US Open and was expected to contest the qualifying rounds.
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has withdrawn due to persistent back pain, putting his Top 30 ranking at risk. The World No. 27 had been dealing with the issue for several weeks. He hasn’t competed since his run at the Croatia Open in July.
Ethan Quinn
The World No. 60 will miss the event due to a lingering metatarsal injury in his right foot. He has not played since his Round of 64 loss at Wimbledon.
Gabriel Diallo
Canadian World No. 114 Gabriel Diallo has pulled out as he continues to recover from a leg injury. Diallo suffered the injury during his second-round match at the National Bank Open earlier this month and was forced to retire.

Patrick Kypson
World No. 116 Patrick Kypson suffered an injury just before the US Open and was forced to give up his wildcard spot. His absence opened the door for veteran Stan Wawrinka to receive a late main-draw spot for what would be his final Grand Slam appearance.
Ugo Humbert
Ugo Humbert has withdrawn due to a back injury. The Frenchman was last in action at the Cincinnati Open, where he failed to win a match, following a similar early exit in Canada.
