Paula Badosa vs Emma Navarro Preview

Badosa skipped much of the clay-court swing due to a recurring back injury, including last-minute withdrawals from Madrid and Rome. She later reached the quarterfinals in Strasbourg before falling in the third round at the French Open.

The Spaniard started her campaign in Berlin with a comfortable win over home favorite Eva Lys. Badosa needed little effort to take the first set 6-1. Though Lys showed some resistance in the second, leveling the score at 2-2, Badosa won four of the next five games to seal the set 6-3 and book her place in the second round.

Navarro, meanwhile, entered the grass-court swing following a mediocre run on clay, which was highlighted by quarterfinal appearances in Charleston and Strasbourg. The American started her run on grass at the Queen’s Club Championships, where she entered as a third seed. She defeated Beatriz Haddad Maia in the second round before falling to Amanda Anisimova in the quarterfinals.

Navarro then turned her attention to the WTA 500 event in Berlin, opening her campaign against World No. 26 Marta Kostyuk. The 24-year-old dominated from the outset, securing a 6-2, 6-3 win and booking her place in the next round.

Paula Badosa vs Emma Navarro Head-to-Head

Their head-to-head is currently locked at 1-1. Navarro stood triumphant in their previous encounter at the 2024 US Open.

Paula Badosa vs Emma Navarro Prediction

Neither player has enjoyed an ideal season so far. However, Navarro holds a slight edge, having won one title, while Badosa is yet to claim any. Badosa has a 16-9 win-loss record, whereas Navarro stands at 19-14.

Badosa’s record on grass is a little behind Navarro’s. Last year, the American played more tournaments on the surface and posted stronger results. Navarro impressed with a semifinal run at the Bad Homburg Open and a quarterfinal appearance at Wimbledon. In contrast, Badosa reached the quarterfinals in Bad Homburg but exited in the fourth round at Wimbledon.

In addition, Navarro holds a higher win percentage on grass at 71.43%, compared to Badosa’s 61.54%. This could give the American a psychological edge before heading into their first encounter on the surface.

Pick: Navarro to win.
